A Woman's Voice

Posted: 03/10/2012 11:20 am

My work is my words and it is rare for me to admit that I need help expressing the depth of my feelings. But given recent events surrounding the vicious attacks on women's health in the Senate, in the House and on the radio airwaves, I have turned to music to help me express why it is so crucial to elect more women who will stand up for our rights and for the respect we deserve. I thank three Oscar-winning song writers for allowing me to play their moving song with iconic images that speak to my heart and I hope to yours.

A Woman’s Voice is a beautiful song, and the video is moving. Thanks Senator Boxer for helping to bring it into existence. PS Tierney Sutton’s performance, and the song itself, captures the essence of Women's History Month.

'A Women's Voice'
Vicious attacks?
Great Vote getting at work here create an enemy, isolate and destroy.
Silence from the 'Voices' when under the cover of Comedian, a hate filed Misogynistic Bill Maher, hardly a voice is raise SILENCE.
Also along the same lines from the main street media except of course selectively speaking.
Did you know that under article 10, birth control medication is freely available through Planned Parenthood, and also Target and even Walmart as well as the internet any time?
Where is all the attacks on women rights?

Are any of the 'Voices' aware that Planned parenthood is under investigation for over 87,000 fake claims?
Planned Parenthood accused of 87,000 fake claims
Planned Parenthood accused of $6M fraud - Washington Times

For anyone interested, I recently saw a video in which California students were asked questions concerning Human Life and at the conclusion of the video, began to re-think more about what human life really represented.
Copy and paste if interested this 2.5 million viewed already 30 minute or so video:

My daughter used Planned Parenthood as well as other (non-rich ) college students.
Planned Parenthood health centers focus on prevention: 76 percent of clients receive services to prevent unintended pregnancy.
Planned Parenthood services help prevent more than 584,000 unintended pregnancies each year.
Planned Parenthood provides nearly 770,000 Pap tests and nearly 750,000 breast exams each year, critical services in detecting cancer.
Planned Parenthood provides more than four million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
Three percent of all Planned Parenthood health services are abortion services.
Planned Parenthood affiliates provide educational programs to more than 1.1 million young people and adults each year.
Planned Parenthood has more than six million activists, supporters, and donors working for women's health and safety and our fundamental reproductive rights.

May I ask you a question? Did you view the 180 video documentary?

No one is denying Planned Parenthood does do some good works... but when viewed in the broader issues there exist some troubling areas of concern of which even liberal California students themselves began to re-think some issues.....

I am just speaking the abortion issue itself.

I wish you well.

There are a lot of evil stereotypes about women: "over-emotional", "histrionics", "illogical", "manipulative", "willing to stretch the truth to win an argument", "difficulty being objective". I only wish the Senator, this video and, for that matter, the feminists entire handling of this Fluke situation didn't play right into these evil stereotypes. It's embarrassing to watch.

Senator Boxer why not support Dr. Jill Stein, candidate for President of the Green Party - she is a progressive woman.

Excellent campaign. great video.

I wonder how long it'll take before the GOP finally learn the lesson that they cannot attack womens' rights & get away with it.

Shameless advocacy of Corporate Feudalism is one thing, but treating women as nothing but second-class citizens or property is just plain wrong and dangerous.

i think that its up to the amercan citizen to find her or his voice, once that happens hopefully we can regain our country from the clutches of corporations and big moneyHuman beings are not property and i have always questioned the legal right of the government to be involved in anyway in a human beings reproductive and/or medical issues. If human beings were property, then the government could regulate and or decide issues. But as human beings are not property of onyone or any government, how then can any laws regulating issues of a persons medical needs or the decisions that are made concerning your own body. I have waited for years to see if anyone would ever test the legality of government regulations of human beings.

I totally agree agree that we need more women in congress as well as all positions of power. However, in reading many of these comments, I'm shocked at the amount of hatred directed at men in general. I understand that as a man I can never fully understand the experience of women in this country, but it seems many women believe all men are misogynists out to retain our power at all costs. I can guarantee you this isn't true. How many women were on the supreme court during Roe V. Wade? How many women were in congress when birth control was first legalized or when suffrage was achieved? I don't want to be hated for my gender any more than you want to be controlled for yours. There's plenty of hatred and violence on both sides. I believe we can work together to find solutions to our troubles and inequities. I believe most men aren't the monsters many seem to think we are.

What you are reading is a stand against the Religious and GOTP agenda/war against women - and unfortunately, it is men who are leading the suppression band-wagon: The Pope, Cardinals and Bishops of the Catholic Church; the Federal House of Reps, and State Govs (men) as well as State House of Reps. (men). We women know there are many enlightened men. We welcome them.

For the most part I agree with you. Some men in congress are not the best friend of women but many men are not anything like Rush Limbaugh. . But women also don't stick up for other women. Going back to the sufferage....some women didn't think women should vote. Today, we have the same senario where some women vote against their best interest.

“ For there an be no doubt that if civilized human kind is to survive the dangers of this century of transition, when all the familiar landmarks are disappearing and the collective structures that used to protect us are crumbling, we must turn to the goddess, to the feeling values of the feminine, the feeling heart and the contemplative mind. Perhaps then in our culture we may see the rising of a new day."

Another blatant example of the famous RepubliCON agenda of divide and conquer. They like to keep the public's interest focused on little diversions like gender wars so the public won't be paying attention to the real issues such as. RepubliCONS.....Where are all the damn jobs you promised us..you know..the ones that got the tea party quacks elected in the first place? Where are they?

and BTW...pay no attention to the man behind the screen running the constant continuous Republican Dog N Pony show. After all, gay marriage, birth control, prayer in schools, evolution is what is really important right? Yes,....these are all questions that the average american looses sleep over, right? Such a trick and shell game con game they got going on!

It is a shame we are trying to reverse all of the progress of the last one hundred years made in women's rights and are trying to emulate countries we condemn about their mistreatment of women such as Iran and China.

I reread Sen boxers post a third time and almost all of the comments are about something else- not womans health care being compromised by legislators and talk show hosts, and how she had to tune out the vile programs by listening to music... she even suggested appropriate listening... No where did I see stories about Spouses killing each other... nor am I interested in how bad you hate her, she has an email address, write her yourself, it will be read... IMHO

Boxer hasn't a clue. The argument is not whether women and men can have birth control. The argument is whether the government can control churches to force them to promote premarital sex. She won't admit that so as a typical shady politician, she is twisting the facts. Something the devil is very good at. It's obvious who is teaching her and who she looks to for inspiration, and it's sure not God.

Lucky for me I was fortunate to be brought up as a protestant Christian and while it was somewhat conservative in overall thinking peoples S lives were not even an issue we discussed. No obssession there. I think mixing puritan obssessions with Christianity is a bad idea.

"In spouse murders, women represented 51 percent of killers." 2. "In murders of their offspring, women predominated, accounting for 65 percent of killers." 3. "Among black marital partners, wives were just about as likely to murder their husbands as husbands were to murder their wives: 50 percent of the victims of a spouse were husbands and 50 percent were wives."

This is a long way from the claim that "men are responsible for 90% of family violence". Those who quote law enforcement statistics to support the "male villain-female victim" dogma are either misled or deliberately attempting to mislead.
