Earlier today I endorsed Barack Obama for president, and I couldn't be more excited for the Democratic Party, the nation -- and the world.
Barack inspires me -- it's that simple. In the words of President Kennedy:
"The world is changing. The old ways will not do... It is time for a new generation of leadership."
In Barack, I see that next generation of American leadership: a figure who can transcend the divisions in this country that my family and I have fought so hard to tear down.
We were all moved four years ago as Barack told us a profound truth: We are not red states and blue states, but one United States. Since then, he has matched that rhetoric with action, traveling the country to inspire record turnouts of men and women of all ages, races, parties and faiths. Barack has forged consensus in the Senate on contentious issues such as immigration and pushed through necessary reforms like the most far-reaching ethics reform in its history.
But I'm not only supporting Barack because of what he has done. What counts in our leadership is not the length of years in Washington, but the reach of our vision, the strength of our beliefs, and that rare quality of mind and spirit that can call forth the best in our country and our people.
That's why I'm most excited about the promise of President Obama:
As president, Barack Obama will break the Washington gridlock to finally make health care what it should be in America.
He will turn the page on the old politics of misrepresentation and distortion and bridge the divisions of race, gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation that plague our country.
He will end a war in Iraq that he has always stood against, that has cost us the lives of thousands of our sons and daughters, and that America never should have fought.
He will close the door on the old economics that has written off the poor and left the middle class poorer and less secure.
He will make the United States the great leader and not the great roadblock in the fateful fight against global warming.
When Barack Obama raises his hand on Inauguration Day a new generation of American leadership will take charge and restore the hope, peace and prosperity the country so desperately needs.
Looking out from the stage today, I realized just how powerful his campaign has become. It's a movement for change -- and one that I'm proud to be a part of.

I have tried to express my views kindly on how disappointed i am with Sen Kennedy's endorsement of BO endorsement. But it seems the HP has a propensity for deleting out comments on their whim. I would love to see the HP Comment on what exactly they found offensive about my comments. I have called Kennedy to let him know my position any way.
I have not posted in six month because I rarely read HP any more because of their censorship.
I am sorry you did this, you should have waited in my opinion. I think there is more to learn about Obama, his connections with Resko and this other Alexi Granoulias, There is much evidence out there that he allows his ambition to cloud his judgment. He would do anything to win, he can hardly point fingers at Hillary. He is not a good person for such an important role as commander in chief. I am afraid you are going to regret this endorsement, there is more stuff to come on this one. This man is not what he appears. Obama beating Alen Keyes in a land slide is not a claim to fame. It is not going to work long, this "tefloning" by the media, but yet he feels he can attack others and get way with it. His free pass hopefully will end soon.
As a person who really hasn't been a Kennedy fan in the past - I must say that "You Rock" on this one.
With all due respect- a Kennedy endorsement is enough to lose the general election- remember that the Republican nominee will always refer to Obama as the Kennedy Democrat !I would like to vote for an electable Democrat in the general election who is also capable of being an effective President- my choice is clearly Hillary Clinton.
I've been thinking about the "experience" thing for some time now. I think it's a phony issue. Hillary's experience totals more in years, but only because she's older.
Back when JFK appointed his brother Bobby to be Attorney General, he was criticized because Bobby had never even practiced law. JFK's response? 'Everybody's got to start somewhere...' I think Bobby Kennedy did a pretty good job.
Our last four or five Presidents have had a lot of experience, and they all did a horrible job for the most part. Bill Clinton had his successes, but he disgraced the office for want of a blow job.
What this country needs is a visionary that can bring people together for a better America.
Dear Ted,
Absolutely wonderful speech. You knocked the ball way out of the park. The best President that I have ever known, John Kennedy, would be incredbily proud of you, your son and his daughter.
Thank you for having the courage to pass the torch at a time when we need it most.
Thank you Senator! God bless you!
Senator,
May G-d bless you and your family.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
From the bottom of my heart.
Dear Senator Kennedy:
I have always had the greatest admiration for your work, and the way you have served our country. I think that you made a great choice when you endorsed Senator Obama. The two of you, together on stage, brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for all you do and for being such an inspiration! Obama will make you proud, and I feel he will one of our greatest Presidents.
I tried to give Sen. K's post a fair reading and keep an open mind. Does the Senator really think Obama has even a faint chance of winning or is he joining millions of other liberals in just pretending that Obama will win, or even worse, pretending that America is the kind of country in 2008 that would elect him? I am tired of watching the President and the Supreme Court take away our civil liberties, tired of counting the minutes until Roe is overturned, and tired of waiting for the swift boats to be launched this summer. All Obama can achieve is making the country ripe for bloody revolution if the conservatives pull off the victory they surely will have if he is nominated. Other than a handful of aging Stalinists, does anyone really want that to happen? The reaction to the revolution will be oppression beyond what we can even imagine in our worst dreams.
Thank you, Senator Kennedy, for not doing the easy thing. This country is ready to see better days and I truly appreciate your help in getting us there.
I apologize for all the idiots here.
And if Ted Kennedy endorsed Hillary, Hillarybots would of course still be trashing him and pissing on the assassination of JFK and RFK.
Really disgusting, like Hillary and Bill, some of their troopers reach new lows on a daily basis.
Ted Kennedy wants someone to keep his "comphrensive immigration " bill going and Obama fills the bill. Neither of them apparently care the majority of Americans don't want that disastorous goal to succeed. We keep hearing about "change" but some things never change. Cheap labor, staggering immigration and more debts to provide benefits is going to be the change--upwards . Obama has made it very clear he supports amnesty regardless of how he tries to disguise. He certainly has the same hearing problem as those already in government. And this is a change ?

BUT, BUT, BUT...
What about 'Fightin' them over There So We Don't
Have to Fight 'em over Here!'?
What about 'Send those Evil Aliens Right Home Right Now!'?
What about 'Family Values or Death!'?
The Repos are not going to make this anything like easy.
Keep on inspiring us, Teddy. We can make this happen.
We get the President we vote for, or at least we're supposed to.
I am so disappointed - truly a smack in the face. You did have a supporter (not that you care). I am a Black female from the sixties.
