Sepehr Vakil was born in Tehran, Iran on September 1st, 1983. He has spent the vast majority of his life in the United States after his parents immigrated here to pursue higher education (as political and social climate of Iran was unstable due to the Islamic Revolution). His passion for writing and politics comes hand in hand, and has its roots in his pre-teens.

Vakil began his college studies at UCLA, where he remained and graduated with an M.S in Electrical Engineering. During his last year as a graduate student he joined the Daily Bruin writing staff, and contributed a few social/political commentaries to the paper. As of three months ago, he has moved to Berkeley, CA, where he work as an electrical engineer by day and as a free-lance journalist by night.
