Someone call Patrick Fitzgerald. Today Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ) sent a letter to Attorney General Mukasey requesting the immediate appointment of a special counsel to investigate the creation and handling of two CIA interrogation tapes. Holt is a member of the Select Intelligence Oversight Panel.
The letter makes Holt the first member of Congress to formally request a special counsel in this matter, though Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) has publicly called for one.
