	<abstract><![CDATA[<p><i>Spring Awakening</i>, the Tony-award-winning Best Musical for 2007, launched the first leg of a national tour in San Francisco earlier this September. Far headier than the jukebox musicals lately filling the Rialto, this re-imagining of the 1891 Frank Wedekind play mashes-up its German <i>fin de si&amp;egrave;cle </i>setting with a lyrical vernacular that would be right at home in <i>Juno</i> (see Act Two's showstopper &amp;quot;Totally Fucked&amp;quot;). </p>
