The excellent graphic in the <em>New York Times</em> yesterday was headlined with a question: <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/10/18/business/20081019-metrics-graphic.html?hp"> "Can a President Tame the Business Cycle?" </a>This is like asking: "Can a President End Poverty?" They are both misleading questions leading to an inappropriately negative answer. </p>
