	<abstract><![CDATA[<p>I've always read how Oregonians are the most knowledgeable track-and-field fans in the U.S. -- arguably the only "en masse" knowledgeable track-and-field fans in the U.S. That's pretty much why the current Olympic track-and-field trials are being held in Eugene, Oregon. The state began its world-class Prefontaine Classic in 1976, in honor of its favorite son, Steve Prefontaine. </p>
