Paul Cardall
Paul Cardall is an internationally acclaimed pianist whose bestselling music is making huge--yet peaceful--waves. His fifteenth album, 40 Hymns for Forty Days recently debuted as the #1 Billboard New Age Album. This is his seventh album to make the lists on Billboard and his second to top the charts.

But during a phone interview, Paul told me that his primary objective isn't to make bestselling selling music. "My goal is to create music that helps soften and heal the heart," said Paul.

That simple statement is both powerful and ironic--considering the fact that Paul was the recipient of a heart transplant in 2009.

Born with essentially half a heart, Paul underwent a number of difficult surgeries and struggled with a host of problems associated with his condition. But as Paul will tell you, his struggles have have shaped his musical style and added depth to it. "Out of the pain, you're able to create...and find your purpose," said Paul. For him, music is a source of healing all on its own.

And for good reason. According to a recent study by researchers at McGill University "Music boosts the body's immune system and is more effective than prescription drugs in reducing anxiety."

To that end, Paul has made it his mission in life to promote health by creating his unique brand of healing music. "It's healthy music for a healthy lifestyle," said Paul. "If you want to feel good, this is what you listen to."

And his listeners agree. During his career, Paul has received thousands upon thousands of heartfelt comments and emails from around the world. One such comment, published on his website, is particularly touching:

"The music helped me throughout some of the hardest times of my life. A couple years ago my baby boy passed away from SIDS. That has been the hardest thing I have had to go through. Many, many times I have meditated and prayed for comfort while listening to your music. It has helped bring me a lot of comfort." -Shawn

As someone who regularly struggles with chronic depression, I can say that the music of Paul Cardall is a gift that can heal the wounded heart. I cannot tell you how many times I've turned to Paul's music to find hope when things get dark. There is an inexplicable power in Paul's music--a touch of the Divine.

Paul continues to write and produce music and promote various causes involving congenital heart disease. To learn more about Paul, check out his Facebook page or visit website at www.PaulCardall.com.
