Watching Hillary's inspirational victory speech last night I immediately thought of Monty Python. And not because her campaign resembles a dead parrot. The happy talk performance reminded me of the Black Knight scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail:
If you remember, King Arthur (Graham Chapman) is passing through a forest when he is confronted by the Black Knight (John Cleese). After observing The Black Knight destroy one of his own knights, Arthur tells him, "You fight with the strength of many men, Sir Knight... You have proved yourself worthy. Will you join me?" The Black Knight refuses to join him, and refuses to let the King pass. "I move for no man," he intones. The two then go at it mano a mano, as our current president would say. King Arthur first cuts one of the Black Knight's arms off with his sword, then another. He then cuts off his leg. Bleeding from three stumps, hopping around on one foot, the Black Knight magnanimously announces, "All right, we'll call it a draw."
I can't think of a more resonant metaphor for the Democratic primary today.

Any reason to view this clip is a good reason but the comparison is excellent!
"'Tis but a scratch!" LOL! Your comparison is spot-on.
"I'LL BITE YER KNEECAPS OFF! CHICKENNNNN!"
The palindrome for Obama is not Ipswitch-It's amabo.
Obama supporter's are the monks who hit themselves in the head:
"Pie Iesu Domine. Dona Eis Requiem" >SMACK<
(self-destructive fanatics is what I'm saying)
You know, if you have to explain it...
Or the KIng with his idiot son looking out the tower window . The king gestures toward the window and vast lands lying in the distance and says to the son, "Some day this will all be yours!" to which the idiot son replys, "What, the curtains?"
LOL
No, it's a stretch. At least the Black Knight had a sense of humor. Hillary, I'm afraid, is deluded.
Obama should offer her the vice presidency NOW.
Earlier in the campaign, I wouldn't have suggested this - but he would have something only Republicans have had the smarts to do: nominate an ATTACK DOG for VP.
He can go back to being "above the usual politics," and she'll win it for him doing just that.
That won't work because she mollycoddlied McCain for so long it's hard to tell 'em apart.
Great idea. Hillary relinquishes character assassination and devotes her energy to planningt bodily assassination. Who the hell would want a partner that wished them dead 365 days of the year. I think the obsession might be too distracting for Mrs. Clinton and compromise her general functional excellance. But what a great sit-com with Michelle Obama running around the White House, putting out fires in the Oval Office, dismantling booby-traps and just trying to preserve her husband's life while keeping one step ahead of Madam Vice President. And Hillary with punjee sticks in her hair checking out the gas-mask in the top draw of her desk.
The dead parrot routine and the black knight routine are two of my favorite Python moments. Thanks for the video.
Obama '08
The Clinton campaign IS the dead parrot!
And Billary is the pet shop proprietor.
It's just a flesh wound.
Or they other Python classic I was reminded of last night: "I'm Not Dead Yet!"
Hmm. Maybe we can pay off the guy with the club to do his stuff?
Yes, I was reminded of 'Its only a flesh wound,' and 'I'm not dead yet,' as well. This clip is also excellent.
HRC's campaign sure does lend itself to satire and parody. She could go into comedy next. She'd be the straight man, the one with 'testicular' fortitude.
I wish the woman would realise that her campaign is really over. She could go with dignity or she can continue being the subject of satire, ridicule and parody. I would love to see her leave with some dignity intact.
Um, it seems to me that it was Arthur who magnanimously called it a draw. Just like Obama did when he said last night in NC that the Democrats should get behind whomever wins.
THIS COLUMN WAS BETTER WHEN I WROTE IT TWO WEEKS AGO!!!

Try reading the rest of the site sometime, Seth!
And I made this analogy to a friend a month ago. It was so obvious I didn't bother to blog about it. Excuse me, I have coconuts to clack.

I posted this on Daily Kos just a few hours before he posted it.
Sorry jungpatawan, his column actually is better written than yours. Next time you may not want to bury your lead.
I did like yours better. Also, though it might not be incumbent on Seth to read the whole site, you'd think someone over there would be in a position to notice the dupe.
At my paper, if desk editors don't notice, copy editors always do.
Tis but a scratch! Yikes...
OK, as long as we realize that John Cleese might be an Obama supporter. During the days when Cliton's main argument was experience, Cleese asked a focus group on FOX after a debate if they knew what Margaret Thatcher's job was before she became PM. He replied that she was Secretary of Education, implying that there have been many popular leaders that had little executive experience.
As I said in another blog here: I'm going with the Gollum analogy. The closer Obama (Frodo) gets to the ring, the more she turns into this crazed monster who will say and do anything ("my precious - superdelegates") to take it away from him. We know how that one turned out.

Now that is funny. Now, I can't get it out of my head. This is the perfect analogy. But Frodo needed a wizard and Obama needs some party leaders to step up and give clinton a reality check. Immediately.
I prefer Hillary as Norma Desmond in the last scene of Sunset Boulevard
I was thinking Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.
Or Sissy Spacek in Carrie, reaching out from the grave.
I read this in a comment on Kos recently. It is good though.
