Grab a Red Bull and a seat belt. Prepare yourselves for another episode of ERRATIC PALIN BEHAVIOR. (EPB)
Governor Gump has some sort of party dyslexia when it comes to appointing a replacement to the seat vacated by Democrat Kim Elton. I saw the former Senator in Anchorage this morning. He's traveling with his new boss, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. I damn near begged him to come back to Juneau, but knew it was no use. Kim Elton hates drama.
The procedure is this:
1. The party officials in the district of the vacated seat GIVE THE GOVERNOR SEVERAL NAMES.
2. The governor selects one of the names.
3. The Senators of the party with the open seat vote on confirming the new Senator.
4. TA DA! A NEW SENATOR! Fabulous!
WHAT has happened to Sarah? Seriously. Update? New to this?
1. The Juneau Dems gave the governor one name. Beth Kerttula. Beth is not on Sarah's Christmas card list...really...so, Sarah said no.
2. The governor solicited names from the community...and picked Tim Grussendorf (a Democrat for only three weeks).
3. Senate Dems REJECTED him.
4. The governor then decided she wanted the entire Senate-Republicans and Democrats-to vote on his appointment...they all said, "Thanks, but no thanks!"
5. The governor then picked Joe Nelson....
6. Again....REJECTED.
7. The Mayor of Juneau, Bruce Botelho, brokered a deal to nominate Dennis Egan...son of our first Governor. John Harris-R, former Speaker of the House and Beth Kerttula-D, Minority Leader, supported the nomination.
8. Today, the governor has ignored THE COMPROMISE of Egan, and BURNED THE OLIVE BRANCH RIGHT ON THE TREE.
9. She has given THREE NAMES to the Senate Dems and demanded they confirm one. They include Tim Grussendorf and Joe Nelson...two fish already thrown back.
One new name is Alan Wilson. He is not a registered Democrat - so he isn't even qualified to serve as an officer for the Juneau Democrats, much less a senator. He is a former president of the Alaska State Home Building Association, an anti-union organization.
According to APOC (Alaska Public Offices Commission), Wilson has contributed exactly twice to political campaigns. In 2006, he gave $50 to Republican Candidate Sarah Palin. In 2008, Wilson donated $50 to Republican Cathy Munoz in a contentious race against incumbent Democrat Andrea Doll. Munoz won. So score that:
Republican Contributions: 2
Democratic Contributions: 0
And Alan Wilson wants to be Sarah Palin's pick for Kim Elton's seat. This is EPB in classic form.
But ooooh, lookie, he is married to Sydney Mitchell, the owner of Shoefly. Yes, the one who sold the Governor a pair of red Double Dare Naughty Monkey pumps that had "Joe the Plumbers" panting and sweating from Florida to Fairbanks.
SOOOOOoooooo, Juneau....are you ready to revolt yet? Why don't you line up like NAUGHTY MONKEYS and let the governor know what you think of her latest pick.
Dictatorships are easier than Democracies, but we've fought a few wars over that.
As the song goes, "Shoe fly, don't bother me."

******This just in: The Alaska Senate Dems have refused to vote on any of the three names submitted by Palin. A legal opinion this morning sai it is illegal for Palin to submit more than one name.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Hollis French, an Anchorage Democrat. "There is nothing for us to vote on, there is no appointment. The governor has taken an unusual course which is outside the law and leaves us no choice but to ignore what she's done." Ahh, Dems with a SPINE!
Palin's appointed Attorney General, Wayne Anthony Ross said "It seems to me the most important thing that can be done by the Senate is not argue with legal or illegal but to appoint somebody to represent Juneau..."
REALLY...SO JUST ACT - DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT BEING LEGAL OR NOT??? Tomorrow the Alaska legislature votes on W.A.R.'s confirmation. VOTE NO ON WAR!

Considering that her naughty monkey didn't register until a couple of weeks ago and that he has hitched his wagon to the most divisive Governor to ever hit the community, I won't be shopping at the Naughty Monkey shoe store unless this idiot jumps off her band wagon.
It is hard to imagine that Sarah Palin could have been VP of the United States at a time when our nation needs clear-minded decisions and a return to the rule of constitutional law.
The Republican Party must try to raise the bar for qualified office holders in future elections. Michelle Bachmann, Alan Keyes and Rick Perry are poster children for the lack of intellectual capability that stunts party growth. The recent tea bag parties brought uniformed voters out to make noise without even knowing what the clatter was all about.
Sarah Palin has done us a favor by setting the low water mark in American politics.
The link at the bottom of this article goes to the "Team Sarah" site, where "Bonnie Jean" gleefully posts:
"Legally, the Juneau Democrats are supposed to submit names to her until she approves of one, but Sarah shows that she can submit names too! And they don't have to be registered democrats either. She is thinking outside the box, and giving the Juneau dems another chance to consider Tim Grussendorf and Joe Nelson, because she is a very generous person."
Seriously. There are checks and balances for a reason. You don't "think outside the box". It is painfully obvious why some of us think Gov. Palin is an evil idiot, and others think she is their salvation. Because they are idiots who know nothing about how our government is actually run, or why it is (or should be) run that way. YOU LOST THIS TIME! DO BETTER AND MAYBE YOU'LL WIN NEXT TIME!
There is no point in trying to reason with a Team Sarah ditto hothead.
Round....uh.....*counts on fingers*.....11!! Ding ding!!

Awesome article, so well written.. witty and funny. Click those heels Dorothy! Home is Wasilla.
I look forward to your posts very much these days Shannyn. Good of you to keep the lower 48 informed on the continuing saga of Malibu Barbie and her gang.
This just in from Anchorage Daily News:
http://community.adn.com/adn/node/140584
Palin realized she could not submit a slate of three names; now claims she meant for them to be considered "in order." (Despite the fact that two have been rejected.)
She ends by urging the legislature to "act swiftly."
In other words:
"Palin realised she completely just made up the accepted procedures and hoped no one would notice then LIED to cover her butt. As usual. She ends up crossing her fingers that no one would bother checking the facts."
How does Palin think this will help her political career?
She still believes she is Presidential material? She is unable to govern Alaska.
Blago-itis or It's All About Sarah.
Wayne (don't worry if it is legal or illegal) Ross may pay the price for this tomorrow. I hope; I hope; I hope; I hope.
It amazes me why the people of Alaska don't recall this woman!!! Thanks, Shannyn, for your reporting! Otherwise we would never know of her attempts to circumvent the law....again!
Between Shannon and Mudflats, following Alaska politics has become so much more amusing to follow than even my own Minnesota Normy vs. Al mess. At least our attorney general doesn't advocate ignoring the law.
Come on, Alaskans, you can do it. Dump WAR and then dump Palin, who's so obviously hankering after greener pastures and less scrutiny.
Bob Wills, King of Swing, used to call out at those wonderful dances, "let er go, boys".....we can just sit back and enjoy the dance!
Thank you Shannyn for your wonderful wit and humor in describing what is a political farce for Alaska, our nation, and democracies world wide. The governor is a rebel without a clue, not a maverick or a rebel with a cause. Sophomoric in thought and behavior, convincing as pyrite, durable like a dry leaf, she is destined to fail.
Nominating someone for an empty seat in the State Legislature is a simple process repeated in history throughout the country and other democracies. This process saves the high cost of special elections and expediently fills seats but its weakness is manipulation by those in power. Cases in point, Illinois and Alaska.
In Alaska's case, it takes a capricious petulant nihilistic Sarah Palin to complicate simple matters and crimp democracy. Some may think nihilistic is a strong word but not in her case because she doesn't practice what she preaches. She increased state government, raised taxes, claims to be transparent but isn't, couldn't prevent Levi and her daughter from dropping out, disobeys Alaska's Freedom of Information laws, claims to support special needs children and cut their funding, abuses per diem and expenses reimbursable by the state, doesn't practice abstinence or ethics, doesn't even pay all her taxes.
Palin raked Juneau the state capital by pulling state jobs and business out of its economy. She tries to govern Alaska from Anchorage, Wasilla and her Blackberry. Now Juneau's public is left to suffer without adequate representation. And for what?
I still don't understand how her erratic, unprofessional, stupid beyond comprehension, chldish, inappropriate behaniors are not at least addressed by someone in her staff or family members. This is making things much worse for Palin..
But I'm gratelful I'm having the time of my life reading about and watching this lunatic hang herself. She's an embarassment. My guess, is the staff are all yes people and don't really give a damn about her and are there for now collecting their paychecks. If they truly cared, someone would had said something to her by now about these multiple, daily, psychotic trips she takes.
Too bad.
i say let her keep doing what she is doing. Her life is in shambles right now....her grandbaby's daddy is coming out with all kinds of dirt....she and her first dude (and HER father) can deny it all they want. She is trash, and she will always be trash.
She and the rest of her boyfriends are so desperate it's actually quite sad.
She's sure not upholding her oath of office to the people of Alaska for one thing.
