this just in: Governor Palin Neglects Alaska Duties for Partisan Stumping on Campaign Trail in Georgia.
Alaska faces challenges that need attention now.
Anchorage - While Gov. Sarah Palin is out of state again, this time in Georgia campaigning for incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss on the eve of the runoff election, Alaska faces challenges including a lack of leadership from the Governor.
Palin will stump for Chambliss, the draft-evading incumbent Republican who waged a notoriously misleading campaign against a decorated war hero, at rallies Monday in Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah and Perry, Georgia. Palin has been back in Alaska at work for only a few days since running for vice president.
"Alaskans need our Governor here earning her salary and working on key problems facing Alaska families," said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Patti Higgins.
Alaska is facing significant challenges, Higgins said, including:
* Oil prices have dropped dramatically to about $45/bbl from the peak of $144/bbl in July, which threatens the state budget.
* Alaskans are paying some of the highest prices for gas in the nation, averaging $2.87 per gallon, while the national average is $1.91.
* The state's oil production continues to decline, due to falling prices and mature fields.
* The global credit crunch and falling natural gas prices threaten the Alaska gas line.
* The State is failing to meet its constitutional obligation to take care of public education as shown by the high drop out rates and the low graduation rates.
* Many Medicare patients cannot find doctors.
* There is continued flight from rural villages.
* Alaska faces the prospect of reduced federal dollars from Washington, D.C.
"Alaska's challenges are significant, and there is much that needs to be done right now. Our Governor should remember that her primary job is to work on behalf of the citizens of Alaska, not engage in partisan politics in other states," Higgins said. "Governing is more than creating photo ops. We'd like a commitment that the Governor is working, not just scheduling media appearances."
Enough is Enough! Someone needs to tell Sarah that SHE DIDN'T WIN. She has been paid for her governor job for months during a campaign. Show up or shut up.

Uh-oh... are Alaskans going rogue?
Well then, someone should tell the GOP that Sarah isn't the answer to their resurrection...
I hope you're right, but Chambliss winning the runoff will probably be seen as Sarah bringing home the bacon for her new pal. Now all the guys like him will invite Sarah to electrify the base in their state.
Sarah and her republican cronies will next be going to Hollywood to star in the upcoming movie, “Basic Extinct.”
or remedial instinct.
SWWNBN (she who will not be named) should return to the *cough* open arms of Alaska.
Although, I've heard the temperature there may be a little bit cooler now...even for the great state.
Is this a JOKE???? Where's the article about Obama working only a grand total of 130 days in the past 3 1/2 years as an absentee senator? Should he be called on the carpet and asked to give back his government paychecks that he did not earn as he "dropped his responsibilities, headed for the national stage" and campaigned for 3 years? You liberals are so pathetic, filled with hate. When everything Obama starts to implode (oh wait, today he renegged on the "windfall tax on big oil" promise), i'm sure you'll all blame not only Bush but Sarah Palin as well.
Ok, Mr. Proudantiobama. I understand you, but this is something to think about: Obama was running for president. He left to fix the problems that America is facing. also, why aren't you going after McCain? He ran for president, and missed many senate votes, so why aren't you yelling at him? And this is not a joke. The election is over. Sarah Palin should not be campaigning anymore. she should be back in Alaska, fixing it's problems.
Alright, the comment above is from my 11 year old son, (soon to be 12). So, he's kind of in trouble.........but darn if he isn't a good little democrat! Yes young one, I've trained you well.
For the billion-ith time...it's NOT hate...it's disgust and embarrassment.
Another go.of that missed the point of the story. All the candidates involved missed there elected duties during the course of the campaign. The campaign has been over a MONTH and Palin has not spent one day in her office. In case you don't know, it's time for her to go back to work.
I thought you Republicans were supposed to be so bright when it comes to money. I'm going to explain it to you like you are a four year old, windfall profits were when the oil was $150/barrel. Oil is now, repeat after me, under $50 a barrel, no windfall profits.
Dear Alaskans.
Take her back.
Please.
And then keep her.
Permanently.
Thank you.
The other 49.

How to shut Sarah TFU
Girl Power.....
Well, goshdarnit, that's just her Mavericky way of bein' Governor; ya don't gotta BE in Alaska to RUN the place. And besides, Georgia is one of those REAL American places, ya know? Plus, she's gotta come up with about 15,000 dollars for the gift taxes on those Hockey-Mom clothes from Neiman-Marcus, so ya' know that per diem money's gonna come in handy, ya' know? Ye-ah.
LMAO !!!! You said it buddy!!!
Remember she is on a team that is a team of mavericks.
Maverick...ack!
silly women
If the Alaskans want dear Sarah back all hey have to do is not pay her salary for her absent days and she will coming running home.
Oh stop. They all do that. Clinton and Obama ran for the Presidency for a year and a half. They were never in their states. You never said anything about them. Why pick on Palin?
Don't think that she is running for anything right now and apparently has not been on the job since the election.
As they said about the small town boys coming back from Europe--Howya goin' to keep them down on the farm after they've seen Pa--reeeee? Putting Sarah back in her Pumpkin shell may be the accomplishment of the century. She's ooooooooouuuuuuuuuuttttttttt and she likes it. Like a hunting dog that got to taste the blood. Ruined. Permanently.
Now if the media would stop using her 'celeb' status to fluff up the news--as if she has ever had one thoughtful or articulate word to say about ANYTHING since they dug her up in Wasilla--we can all get back to the real world, roll our sleeves up and get some real work done for this country.
Per usual Palinites miss the point of the story. The election has been over a month, she has not been in her Alaska office, ONE DAY. Hillary spent lots of time back in the Senate since she lost. I repeat the election is over.
I'm not trying to defend her, but she has spent several days in her office. Doing what other than being interviewed by Greta Van Whatever, I don't know.
1. because she's a hypocrite
2. the elections over and I'm happy to report she lost
The elections over maggie.
Who has been manning the Senate seat left vacant by Obama while he campaigned? No one, there was no need because all he ever did was vote present!!! C'mon people, they are all politicians and bashing one more than the other is senseless. She's not the VP. Of course the complaints are coming from a democrat...what do you expect. If she were a democrat a republican would be complaining! Be above the politicians, let them bash each other. We the people need to keep an eye on all of them, especially the ones we elected. Take off the rose colored glasses and scrutinize every single one of them. Especially our incoming president.
Bitter just a little bit?
Charlie, you've been listening to Fox a bit too much and your comment indicates you didn't watch the presidential debates. McCain claimed President Elect Obama was the most liberal voting member of the Senate. It's hard to imagine that is true if he only voted 'present' as you claim. Since you want us to scrutinize 'every single politician', why are you even posting when we are scrutinizing Sarah. At least Obama has a brain and knows how to use it. I haven't seen any indication that Sarah either has a brain or that it works. All she can do is pander.
"show up or shut up" - well said. Show up AND shut up would be better.
Will someone please explain to me what it is about this woman that keeps her in the spotlight. 56% of exit polls showed her as the reason McCain lost. Every blog is filled with hundreds of anti-Palin comments, not counting the ones that are unprintable. Keith Olbermann and Rachael Maddow roast her every night. Every comedian has an arsenal of Palin jokes and she is the laughing stock of the country. She is nothing more than Dick Cheney in a skirt. Morons are even chanting "Palin in 2012"....
Has the country learned NOTHING in 8 years????
ROFLMAO, nothing more then Cheney in a skirt, I love it.....
Now, Sarah, it's been fun. wink, wink
But, you've got to go home now. Come again and play.......but, we'll call you when we're ready to see you.
Until then, stay, stay in Alaska with your constituents, and oh yes, your family. I almost forget that you have a family. You, frankly, just really do not seem like the family type, more tlike the- beauty- queen-
searching- for- a- pageant -type. No offense.
Being from Massachusetts I understand this situation perfectly. Our governors always drop their responsibilities mid-term and head for the national stage. Sarah better be careful. If she keeps this up she might find herself in deep trouble with public opinion in Alaska.
Mitt Romney took it to this level when he was governor of Massachusetts. It got to a point that there was no way that he could have ever won re-election here. He went on to lose the nomination and now it seems he is becoming more irrelevant with every passing day. He was a big power player in the party for a much longer time than Sarah. If she follows his pattern she will go down in flames.
Not only is she neglecting her state duties, but what about her special needs child that she seemed to flash in front of anyone with a camera during the campaign? The woman is a total opportunist. It's a long road until the next Presidential election and I can assure you, she will be a distant memory b then. Let her do her thing. She doesn't have the stuffing to take it full term.
