The Alaskans Are Getting Restless....

this just in: Governor Palin Neglects Alaska Duties for Partisan Stumping on Campaign Trail in Georgia.

Alaska faces challenges that need attention now.

Anchorage - While Gov. Sarah Palin is out of state again, this time in Georgia campaigning for incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss on the eve of the runoff election, Alaska faces challenges including a lack of leadership from the Governor.

Palin will stump for Chambliss, the draft-evading incumbent Republican who waged a notoriously misleading campaign against a decorated war hero, at rallies Monday in Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah and Perry, Georgia. Palin has been back in Alaska at work for only a few days since running for vice president.

"Alaskans need our Governor here earning her salary and working on key problems facing Alaska families," said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Patti Higgins.

Alaska is facing significant challenges, Higgins said, including:

* Oil prices have dropped dramatically to about $45/bbl from the peak of $144/bbl in July, which threatens the state budget.
* Alaskans are paying some of the highest prices for gas in the nation, averaging $2.87 per gallon, while the national average is $1.91.
* The state's oil production continues to decline, due to falling prices and mature fields.
* The global credit crunch and falling natural gas prices threaten the Alaska gas line.
* The State is failing to meet its constitutional obligation to take care of public education as shown by the high drop out rates and the low graduation rates.
* Many Medicare patients cannot find doctors.
* There is continued flight from rural villages.
* Alaska faces the prospect of reduced federal dollars from Washington, D.C.

"Alaska's challenges are significant, and there is much that needs to be done right now. Our Governor should remember that her primary job is to work on behalf of the citizens of Alaska, not engage in partisan politics in other states," Higgins said. "Governing is more than creating photo ops. We'd like a commitment that the Governor is working, not just scheduling media appearances."

Enough is Enough! Someone needs to tell Sarah that SHE DIDN'T WIN. She has been paid for her governor job for months during a campaign. Show up or shut up.

I can't believe Alaskans can complain about the gas prices! You all get a check from Alaskan Oil, isn't that what it should be for? At least you get that, no one else does.

I live in the lower 48, and our gas, just today, went below $3.00 a gallon. AND I DON'T GET A CHECK.

I wonder if that exorcist from Africa could make her do a disappearing act? Or at the very least erect a voo doo barrier that would keep her out of the lower 48.

You realize you are directing this to Alaskans that continued to re-elect Ted Stevens?? Alaska is a beautiful state and deserves better that either of them. Alaska needs to kick her butt to the curb.

Sarah Palin is not interested in doing an actual job. Her mission in life is running for office. As she reminded her daughter (who wasn't quite convinced) in the Matt Lauer interview, campaigning is FUN. Her current activities are just preparation for the next round. She'll be running for re-election in 2010 and for president in 2012. If she can fit it in, she might run for senator, too. If at some point the Republicans realize she isn't their "savior" after all and dump her as their spokesface, she'll start her own party and run for president in perpetuity. After all, in her parallel universe, God wants her to -- and it's so much FUN also, too.

How're you gonna keep her down on the farm, after she's seen Paree?

Wow, I had the exact same thought. I posted it but it's still under review.
Congratulations, you nailed it first. I truly believe that is the Palin family theme song, not to mention Sarah's mindset.

Face it Alaska, your homegrown high school sweetheart went on a long vacation to some big city in the lower 48. Once there, she met a strong charismatic character called "fame", and she's decided that she doesn't need you anymore. Oh she'll always love you, and she hopes that you two can still be friends. Heck you might even bump into each other when she comes home for holidays a couple of times a year, but the reality is, she's leaving you.

It's understandable how hurt and angry you feel. You didn't deserve that. But at least you're seeing her for the person that she really is: shallow and vain. The best thing that Alaskans' can do now is to move on; get over her. Don't take her back after "fame" leaves her for another. Just move on. It'll make all of you stronger. And for the love of Pete, when you feel strong again, next time please find a better one.

In the mean time, sweetheart or not, she needs to work her a$$ off, and do her job for AKans, until 2010 at least.

That's the point! She's not working for Alaska at all. She found fame, and it appears to be very hard for her to return home and do any actual work. Jetting around the lower 48, being pampered, new clothes, and attention at the national level has got to be a lot more fun than battling budget issues. She won't be seen doing anything real in Alaska until the legislature starts up in January.

I agree with all of the above, except she's not home-grown, she's an import from Idaho.

Tell you what, instead of waiting to vote her out in 2010, why don't Alaskans start a recall petition? That might get her back to work. Although I don't know why you'd want her working at all.
This woman was lucky to have been elected in a state with no budget problems, where thanks to oil, money is aplenty, and all residents get extra checks. Now, if oil keeps going down, she's gonna see what it's like to be a REAL Governor, with a tight budget, and real decisions, sometimes unpopular, and real decisions to make. I'm betting she won't know how to handle that.

She will learn the job of Community Organizer---then.

I'm afraid there's no money in noble positions, and Palin likes money.

Recall, recall, recall her. Tha't right! Alaskans you don't have to take her mess. Recall her. History(Bush administration) tells us that if you wait, you'll end up like the whole of America. Down the river with no paddles. Just look at what happened during the Bush Administration. We did nothing but talk and complain. We should have demanded "Impeachment" several years ago.

So, don't take the chance. Let her continue to frolic around; but, BEGIN THE RECALL PROCESS IMMEDIATELY. Or, you'll be sorry. If you do nothing but complain about Alaskan woes, then you can only blame yourselves. Recall works!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, can we start the recall process from here in the lower 48?

Hey, let's all take advantage of that bad old 1976 Supreme Court decision, Buckley v. Valeo, that got us into this mess by equating the spending of money to influence elections with constitutionally protected free speech and barring federal regulations on campaign spending.

Let's all of us, all over the lower 48, just FLOOD the Recall Palin campaign with money. Yes, I know, we need an obliging Alaskan to pull the papers, but I'm confident we can find somebody. Heck, 1,500 Alaskans stood out in Alaska's September chill and protested Palin's kooky conservatism. I'll bet one of those 1,500 would be happy to help us out.

Think about it: for just $25 each, we could fund a campaign that would bury Palin for good. With all the money we could raise, we could probably get a moose elected to replace Palin were that the priority.

We should do it! It would be a FUN campaign!

Keep notes. Vote her out of office. She won't be too apetizing a canidate for president in 2012 if she loses her reelection for Gov of Alaska...

Memo to Alaskans:

When Palin is up for re-election VOTE HER OUT and then elect someone competent who can string together a grammatically correct sentence without sounding like Gomer Pyle.

Problem solved.
