Todd Palin & Co. in Contempt of Senate?
PRICELESS!

Last July 14, Alaskan lawmakers unanimously voted to investigate the abuse of power allegations against Governor Sarah Palin. At the time, the Governor welcomed the chance to clear the air and had directed her staff to cooperate with the investigations.

On August 29, 2008 everything changed. Sarah Palin was picked to be John McCain's running mate. Formerly cooperative witnesses now had to be subpoenaed. They ignored their subpoenas. Was there witness tampering? What was Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg's role?

At 10:09am on February 6, 2009, Senate Resolution #5 passed 16-1. This resolution finds the witnesses who ignored their subpoenas GUILTY OF CONTEMPT of the Alaska State Senate.

This resolution did not address the actions of Talis Colberg. It called for no penalties to the 7 witnesses because they were being guided by the Attorney General and they did cooperate with Mr. Branchflower as soon as their lawsuit was thrown out of court.

There was very little discussion on the floor.

The lone dissenting vote? Senator Con Bunde. Rule of Law Anyone? Strange, because as I watched Gavel to Gavel this morning, I saw Senator Bunde put his hand on his heart and recite the Pledge of Allegiance with the rest of the Chamber. "With liberty and justice for all." Maybe those are just words. I guess in Con's world, it's OK to ignore subpoenas.

This weekend is the Iron Dog Snowmachine Race. Todd Palin will drive his machine to Nome with a new cloud. Todd Palin is in contempt of the Alaska State Senate.

Here's a video of Senator Hollis French introducing Senate Resolution 5:

The Alaska Attorney General, who advised some of these folks to ignore the subpoenas, has resigned.

Why aren't our so called news channels covering this? It's not the spin they want to spin, cause it's fact. They no longer cover fact, they are too busy spinning distorted facts.

Why cover it now? Let's wait until Governor Palin decides to run for President.

Then the media can ask questions about teen pregnancy to a Mother who preached abstinence in her own home. Then the media can ask about reimbursements for the Governor staying in her own home. The the media can ask about Todd Palin's cessionists plans. Then the media can ask the Governor to actually answer the questions being asked. Then the media can ask the Governor if her foreign policy bona fides have expanded beyond looking through a pair of binoculars.

I cannot wait for Governor Palin to face media scrutiny as a Presidential candidate. Better yet, I cannot wait for the other Republicans who are likely to run do the job for the media. Joe Biden & Hilary Clinton threw everything they could at Barak Obama and we know who won. Governor Palin will not be able to match wits with Republicans, yet alone Democrats.

I cannot wait until Governor Palin runs for President and further alienates any Republican with half a brain.....see 2008 Congressional results.....Governor Palin may have rallied the Republican base, but she also help lose everyone else in the middle.

To quote former President Bush, "Bring it on."

again folks, for all of you who are appalled by the Palins. This has been going on in Alaskan politics for a very long time. Their underhanded behaviors are only being recognized now because of Palin's nomination! Otherwise, except for a few progressive thinking Alaskans, the Alaskan public allows them to destroy the reputation of the most beautiful state in the world! SP and first Dud are doing business as usual! One reason is because Alaskans have a habit of re-electing public officials over and over again ad nauseum in spite of their sleazy political maneuvers. Case in point, Ted Stevens and Don Young! The wolves are still be slaughtered, the gov/hubby still not facing prosecution, she still continues to travel on the public dole. Really, what has changed? I dearly respect Hollis French. A wonderful man with a great family. And, he is honest! It would be wonderful to see the Palins' retreat back into the woods, while an ethical intelligent person sits in the Gov's office. C'mon Alaska, take off your blinders! BTW, get rid of Don Young. He is a nightmare! Alaska has the responsibility of putting Alaska back where she belongs. A place to be held in awe, not a carbon copy of deliverance!

So!!! It isn' t like they are going to do anything about it, like fine him or put him jail so what is the point?. This is exactly the same reason Rove has been ignoring congress they won't or cannot do anything except say he is in contempt of congress.

There is no real story here. Hollis French polled his constuents and found they were two to one against any pursuit of the so-called 'Troupergate' scam. Like most common sense Alaskans they know a politically motivated scam when they see it. The Alaskan legislature has dropped the whole thing and has moved on. This resolution is merely a grandstanding face saver, and a mean spirited one at that.

GeneCar, You're dead wrong. The contempt cloud will follow Palin around until she is out of politics. AND...the subpoenaed aides and Todd Palin were ignorantly following the bad advice of counsel...Attorney General Talis Colberg. Colberg will have to defend giving illegal advice AND...potential witness tampering.

I would have liked a little jail time or fines. But this isn't the court system, it's the Alaska State Senate.

Palin 2012...'even though my husband was found in contempt...and my AG was removed from office and disbarred...Vote For Me!!!'

Mean spirited? Taking your oath of office seriously is mean spirited? Mean spirited is Lt Governor Parnell firing off a partisan hack letter to Senator French. Why didn't he address all 16 members of the senate that voted for contempt?

Hey GeneCar! This is Alaska! This is America! LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!

This will only make Palin a Martyr for the GOP. She will get a big boost over her Bush like actions. This is really what the GOP loves.

I think this contempt charge will just make the Palins more attractive to the Alaskans and the Republicans. The cheesier they are found to be, the better the GOP likes them. New face of the Republican party - oh yeah!

I'm all for sending Patrick Fitzgerald up there. I want to see him build a half million dollar house with building supplies that have no receipts and just "some friends" while he's snowmobile racing and "working on the north slope" and watching his five kids while his wife campaigns for state office. Does he think he can repeat that superhuman feat again - with Fitzgerald watching this time?

Somehow the rethuglicans will get him out of this, they rarely pay for their transgresses but are the first to call for those of their counterparts.

Todd Palin doesn't have to abide by U.S. rules. It isn't his country.

BTW, the tasering incident that they keep refering to was when the kid asked to see what the taser felt like. The trouper lowered it to the lowest setting. The kid tried it. I believe the mother was there at the time. No charge was made until a year later when Palin was trying to have him fired. We don't hear about that part though.
Now, Palin's husband can just not show up when he is subpoenaed. I guess the Governor said he doesn't have to.
