Why the DSCC Loves Sarah Palin

What's Your Reaction:

It's mind-boggling how the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee hasn't shown up for Scott McAdams, Alaska's Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate.

They've had weeks to help secure a now open seat they didn't think they had a prayer to take. Why aren't they fighting for Alaska? Lisa Murkowski asked McAdams where his DSCC support was. When it didn't show, she threw back in as a write-in candidate.

The front page of their website features a picture of Sarah Palin. Fear of her brand of crazy has been an ATM for the DSCC. They've raised millions off of Palin word salads with guano dressing. The DSCC website also has a link to Palin's anointed Alaskan proxy for US Senate, Joe Miller, but they haven't supported his opponent.

Alaska is the cheapest place in the country to run a campaign. One hundred dollars of campaign money in such a small market is equivalent to $2,000 for a race in Texas. With Palin's negative numbers over 50 percent, her candidate, Joe Miller, is vulnerable. The Tea Party is recruiting people with "Lisa M" type names to ruin a write-in, and every Murkowski vote will be challenged by their attorneys. It will make the Franken/Coleman recount look like play-dough hour in kindergarten.

52 percent of Alaska's voters are registered independent or undeclared. Nate Silver thinks Murkowski could win a write-in campaign? He's wrong about Alaska -- again. Ask NOT-Congressman Ethan Berkowitz. Silver projected Ethan would best incumbent Don Young in 2008. He didn't.

Nationally, both Democrats and Republicans are underestimating Sarah Palin. The DSCC and others do this at their own peril. There is a chance to drive a political stake through the heart of the Palin king-maker meme. I realize Palin is a money maker, but neutering her politically by electing a Democratic Senator in Alaska is priceless.

Please help Alaska take our state forward. Save yourselves. Support Scott McAdams for U. S. Senate. Contribute to Scott McAdams campaign.

Call the DSCC and ask them to financial support Alaska's democratic candidate. 202-224-2447 Email them at info@dscc.org

I know why I like Her a lot, but, that's not the same as others. She should learn a lot more about geography and history, than run for vp again.

I wish Howard Dean was still the National Democratic Chairman. He would light a fire under the DSCC. Well, thanks to Bush and his familiars, I have no job and no money. But I'm going to write DSCC and tell them a thing or two. Just remember: It's not a tea party, it's a WHITE WHINE PARTY!

Okay, Shannon. I emailed the DSCC asking for their support for the Alaskan Dem for the Senate. Thank you for this excellent suggestion. If I hear back from the DSCC, I will pass it along.

Electing a Democratic Senator in Alaska would probably be about as priceless as electing a Republican Senatot in Mass.

the republican in Mass is a traitor to baggers for renouncing Sarah and her Tea event when she came to town. we had the first African American Senator as well who was a Republican. Scott is a moderate and even has voted with the President on occasion. Another reason he gets bashed. He was not elected by the Tealiban but they like to say that. He may get another term. We have had republican governors too and we liked one or two not Mitt though. Weld was a favorite. There have been 14 dems and 12 repubs since 1914.

Right on, Shannyn. What happend to the very successful DNC strategy of "every race is in play".

I would think there are a lot of Alaskans who are sick and tired of the Republican political circus and wish someone would work for them instead for themself and their celebrity status.

Yes!!

Everyone reading this should be concentrating your efforts in Alaska.

Wherever you are campaigning, stop or at least pause, and start spending more time on this.

I would love to help, but I'm too busy watching my fellow voters get ready to elect a governor that voted for NAFTA and used to work on Wall Street.

Oh my! "Word salad with guano dressing"! Shannyn, *that* was inspired!

I'm an R in Alaska. Murkowski and McAdams are vying for the same section of the vote. I kinda wish McAdams would drop out on let Lisa take it, It'd be better than a single one of Palins picks getting in, and with how it's looking Miller is the only one. But maybe that's just the R in me coming out.

SHE ISN'T ON THE BALLOT. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? Ok, sorry, really? You'd pick the Murkowski dynasty over an actual candidate? From another Alaskan, go stick your head out of the door and slam it. It's not the "R" coming out...it's the absolute stupid coming out. If Scott dropped we'd lose every down ballot race and you'd end up with the VECO party in power in Juneau.
Sorry, it's the prednisone talking.

Shannyn, I fear that too many American voters are stupid. To be uniformed, or to vote for someone because of name recognition or because you would like to have a beer with them is just plain stupid. And it's everywhere - look at what happened in South Carolina and the Democratic nomination. That's why we are in this mess - too many Americans just don't give much thought to who they are voting for and why. We are lucky that Obama won - occasionally Americans do get it right. Keep up the good work of informing the electorate!

This is EXACTLY the reason I do not contribute to the DSCC, DCCC or DNC. I contribute directly to the candidates or through ActBlue - http://www.actblue.com/

I'm off to raid the mad money jar & contribute whatever is in there to Scott McAdams.

I'm truly sick of people saying McAdams has no chance. Wasn't that what everyone said about Miller before the Tea Party dumped a fortune on him? I heard McAdams on Talk of Alaska yesterday and I think he's very credible--well-spoken, good grasp of the issues, and able to remain civil about his opponents. He just needs more exposure, particularly in the Bush.

Meanwhile, let Lisa and Joe tear each other up for the next six weeks. Even if McAdams doesn't win this time, a decent effort gives him some recognition and puts him in place to build for the next election.

The DSCC isn't just missing the boat--they're missing the whole ocean. If they can't get it together, how about a money bomb for McAdams? I already gave, and I'll give more, but it works better when people have a collective sense of excitement and building momentum. This is one area where we could learn from the Tea Partiers.

It's ironic that Palin backed Joe Miller, an ivy league grad/lawyer.  Wouldn't he be considered an unqualified elitist by Republican standards?  Isn't that what McCain and Palin tried to pin on Obama?  She only backed him to get back at Murkowski.  That's her MO.  It's all about settling scores with her.  Getting even.  No doubt it would be priceless if McAdams or Murkowski could somehow pull off a win.  It was priceless to see the longest pause from Joe Miller when asked if he thought Palin was qualified to be president, followed by his refusal to answer the question and then change the subject.  Spoke volumes.  Say it ain't so, Joe!

I have gotten to hear Scott a few times now and he is a great candidate for AK but needs help getting his message out to all. He is a clear choice for all those who do not want the Party of No as represented by Lisa/Miller. They are just different flavors of the same old same old.

Wouldn't that be like...dividing by zero
