I'd Never Have Sex With A Republican, It's Just Wrong

I was having lunch with a friend recently - one of the Obama Campaign volunteers I've been working alongside the past many weeks. We were talking about California's Prop 8 - a lame attempt from the far right who fear that allowing gay couples to be joined in civil union will somehow "turn their kids gay." Yeah, whatever.

I passed on his invitation during the final weeks of the election, to help work the phones at the No on Prop 8 office because, as I told him then, my first order of business was to get Obama into office, then, if for some bizarre reason, Prop 8 did pass - which many of us never thought was in the realm of possibility, at least not in California - I promised I'd work on it afterwards. So as we were preparing to walk together yesterday in the National Day of Protest Against Prop 8, I asked him, "So, what's up with Prop 8 lovers, anyway? I mean really, who are these people who think a brigade of gay zombies will now show up on their doorstep and drag their kids away into gay marriages?!" We laughed at the ignorant stupidity and then he mentioned an old boyfriend who was a staunch Republican, to which I said, "Dude, what's up with those Log Cabin Republicans anyway? Why do they support a party who thinks their very existence is abhorrent and evil and wrong? I don't get it..." My friend said, "I know! I could never have sex with a Republican, that's just wrong!" Everyone standing around us at the staging area of the march laughed. And of course I agreed. Because it doesn't matter if you're gay, straight, bi or trans-gender, having sex with a Republican is, well, just wrong! I just don't know how all these bi-political couples do it. I could never have sex with a Republican. Ever, ever. It's just so wrong.
