The Content Brief: Location Marketing and the Future of Retail

It's the dawn of a new era in retail. The days of blaming the digital revolution for siphoning business are dwindling, as merchants are realizing that the smartphones customers have always got at the ready are actually a marketer's dream.

Mobile local ad spend is predicted to reach $6.4 billion by 2017. And it's no surprise, given the astounding results so far for geographically targeted mobile marketing. When coupled with behavioral data, like search, stores have the potential to reach consumers at exactly the right time and place.

And we talked about Google Glass last week, but the entire field of wearable, always-connected tech will explode in the next several years, and when it does, smart local merchants will integrate this precision targeting to entice consumers with relevant, real-time promotions much more organically than a banner ad on a smartphone.

You can get up to speed on the rise of location-based mobile marketing in the latest episode of The Content Brief from Freshwire below.
