MSNBC MORNING JOE REPORTING ON REV. WRIGHT: IS THERE A DOUBLE STANDARD? YES!!!!!

The choice of Joe Scarborough by MSNBC to host a morning show is an example of political cowardice by Dan Abrams its program director. Other than Keith Olbermann, MSNBCs lineup is decidedly right of center. Scarborough along with lapdogs Willie Geist, and Mika Brzezinski are over the top on the patriotism thing. Rev. Wright's sermons should not be a basis for condemning Obama. Rev. Wright's 1st amendment rights should clearly be protected especially in the context of a sermon. Furthermore, Scarborough has drunk the Republican Kool-aid for so long that his comments are skewed and lack objectivity. Like many other Republican leaders, their comments are based upon hunches and not facts

On the other hand, CNN's Situation Room commentator Jack Cafferty stated yesterday that he had experienced fiery sermons by clergy that he did not agree with that in no way would cause him to leave his church. The idea that a black man going to a black church should be responsible for some of his pastor's sermons provides a double standard to an African American candidate. It is a sorry comment on the white dominated media. Because of Keith Olbermann I have made MSNBC my cable news channel of choice If things do not change, I am going to move elsewhere.

Mr. Drobny, I listen to your program "Cutting Edge" on Nova M Radio every Sunday morning. It is the most intelligent political discussion I hear on radio all week. Thank you for this excellent program.

Clueless Joe? Don't get me started. He's typical of the opinionated blowhards who really, really, really believe the sun rises and sets on their rear ends. They're all shining examples of people who are too ignorant to realize they're ignorant. I can't imagine what kind of process selects these clowns for public consumption. Is there anyone in MSNBC management that isn't a TFI (Total F**king Idiot)? Guess not.

I TiVo Morning Joe so I can fast forward through everything but Chuck Todd, Tim Russert, or Andrea Mitchell for the most part. Between Joe and the racist Pat Buchanan, I get sick to my stomach! Senator Obama's speech on race today should have made them both ashamed of themselves, but they continued to spew forth the Rev. Wright garbage even after what was a very inspiring message. Their hearts must be hardened beyond repair. Our country will never progress with moronic punditry such as theirs.

I am so with you on this! Joe is a freaking chameleon! Can't figure him out. Probably it's time for him to boost Hillary now as part of Mr. Vicodin's aka Rush's plan to get out the vote for her. Willie is just getting paid to hang out early in the morning, biding time until he can pick up his dad's gig on Sunday mornings. Judging from the age of those presenters , he seems like he is going to have a mighty long time. President Obama will have a full head of grey hair before Willie gets that job unless there is some divine intervention. And Mikha/Mika whatever is so confused as to what role to play. Dan has a game show in the evenings where the score is predetermined then he asks the commentators to comment then he assigns the score that he has already predetermined. You confused yet? The new show verdict has nothing to do with courts, it is still milking the election for all it's worth. How did he get that job? Any family connections? Robbers, rapists, lock-up, prison love, stalkers, whole body tattoos, head tattoos(wonder if it's both heads?), arm track marks, murderers, San Quentin oh, oh, oh and on and on and on. Thank God for broadband and that useful historic tool - a book. Even Andersen is not so bad at those trying times. Don't you dare to say that I don't have a bed to go to, because I am doing something very important for the country. I am waiting for the red phone to ring!

Agreed, when I turned on Morning Joe this morning I literally left the house sick to my stomach after listening to him. He clear bias and unflinching way that he clings to such narrow and destructive views are disgusting. So we now judge people not on their word or actions, but those of the people around him and not even on all their words but only those that we can use to make political strikes. He is absolutely the WORST of what MSNBC has to offer.

I totally agree. Whatever happened to good old fashioned straight news reporting. Joe is admittedly RIGHT and in my opinion a pompous blowheart. I think everyone is forgetting the unique quality about Senator Obama that is he is accepting if he doesn't agree with you. He does not cut people off because he disagrees with them. How else can one be a unifier!!!! He doesn't demonize the RIGHT and he didn't demonize WRIGHT either, and he doesn't always agree with either one!!!!!!

When Obama first made the speech that catapulted him into the national spotlight, I got chills (good vibes) and saw great promise and had hope that he truly would transcend the divisive issues and I had been his supporter until the last few months and especially the last few weeks when all of the Rev. Wright hubub erupted. Unfortunately, what has been coming out of Obama's mouth recently does sound naive to me and it has nothing to do with his past experience or professional qualifications. It has to do with him sounding like a spin-meister who is trying to whitewash his poor judgment with the excuse that he never heard or wasn't aware of repeated sermons with anti-American inflammatory rhetoric from his pastor of 20 years.

That is what I am calling naive because it makes me ask myself, "If he was so clueless about that personal issue, why should I trust his judgment about more presidential issues? If he was so naive to think that this kind of stuff wouldn't come out or wouldn't matter and didn't take steps to prevent this from blowing up in the media as it has, then how can I trust him to handle foreign governments and people from other places that hate us?"

Honestly, I gave the guy more credit. I thought he was smarter than this. I am truly disappointed. I wish he had turned out to be the candidate who could represent all of America, not just a minority population. Skin color is not important to me. It is obvious to me now that perhaps he only joined the church and kept connected to it so as to use the congregation and Wright's influence to further his political gain. Otherwise, why would he stay friends with and attend a church if he doesn't share the same views and support what is being preached?

To me, this is very sad and could have been avoided. Oprah left the church. He should have done the same a long time ago.

Gandhi said "be the change you want to see in the world." I wish Obama had done that.

That's all, I don't mean to offend anyone. I am very saddened by this whole mess and I feel it is extremely naive of a man who seeks the most powerful position in the world to think he is ready when he can't even influence or control his own back yard!

Please don't forget the other MSNBC double standard - you know, the Olbermann double standard that demands Hillary Clinton thoroughly trash her friend Geraldine Ferraro to cleanse herself of guilt by association; then turns around two days later and cautions everyone not to paint Barack Obama with Reverend Wright's words lest he look guilty by association. As for Scarborogh, why would anyone pay the slightest attention to anything he says if they're not right wing? I don't really support Clinton or Obama, so I have no "side" to stick up for. I just don't care for double standards of any sort.

I was born and raised catholic. I stopped going to the church years ago when the hypocracy became too much to overlook. At some point, when you don't believe the words of your pastor/priest/reverend, you make a choice to stay or leave.

If my priest made a racist statement in an otherwise great sermon, what do I say or do and how does it reflect on me as a person? Do I say, my priest is a well-meaning guy and didn't mean it? Do I say that he may mean it, but I don't believe in such things? Do I continue to go to that church knowing the priest is a racist? Do I ask this racist priest to be my counsel? Especially if I don't believe in his racist comments? And what if I do somewhat believe in his racist statements? If I don't speak out against him, am I supporting him? If I wasn't there to hear the racist statements, are they less objectionable?

What Wright said was controversial. But the real question here is how much Pastor Wright influenced the man Obama has become. Does he think in his head and feel in his heart that some of the thing Wright has said has merit?

If Obama wants to be president of America, he should let both black and white Americans know what is in his head and his heart.

I get more accurate reporting from The Daily Show..... at least they admit they're a spoof.

I agree totally sir, and I am right there with you except that I have already moved on. I loved MSNBC, but I will not endanger my health (by raising my blood pressure) anymore watching idiots like Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson. If they were fair minded or even partially right about things I could try to watch. I love a good argument, but Joe is so over the top. He belongs on FOX. I do love it when Rachel and Keith give him little set-downs. I love Keith Olbermann, I love his show, but I cannot support MSNBC anymore. I would go back if they gave Rachel Maddow a show. At least there would two progressive shows on cable. At least they got rid of Tucker!

Yes, they got rid of Tucker, but MSNBC should have replaced him with David Shuster not David Gregory, Carl Rove's rap partner.

Anyone who looks to cable news networks for objective reporting is a fool. I thought we learned this lesson already.

morning joe is getting pretty pathetic and i agree with you completely....joe was even asking, this morning. how much longer was this story going to last?....i went through all of the cable and msm shows and he was the ONLY ONE completely wrapped up and focused as if obama had been caught having sex with a minor....it will last as long as he and faux news continue to make it the "all news, all the time" story...
