The recent government intelligence report about Al Qaeda is another example of the utter nonsense that we are being told almost everyday. And it is not only the Bush Administration. The Democrats and the MSM have bought into this completely since 9/11. The latest report is that Al Qaeda is at the same strength it was pre-9/11. Let's examine that premise.
The strength of Al Qaeda as a real centralized terror organization has never been proven by any intelligence agency. Do we ever get any details about what the Al Qaeda organization really is? What we get almost every day are pictures of masked men training on horizontal ladders and pictures of Osama's training films that are at least 7 years old. And this centralized network is building its massive power in the mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan. This sophisticated organization is supposed to be controlling all this worldwide terrorism in those mountains? Now there's a real stretch. How are they supposed to be able to function in those places?
The 9/11 attack was a well-funded plan that involved money as well as manpower and planning within the U.S. It is my personal belief that they gave credit for 9/11 to Bin Laden the same as cops claiming that they have captured a murderer by pinning it on some already known murderer. It gives the public the belief that there has been some positive response by law enforcement. Bin Laden originally denied that he had anything to do with 9/11. He ultimately took credit for it after we insisted that he was responsible. That was the gift of a lifetime for him.
In early 2002 Tim Russert interviewed Cheney about Al Qaeda and Cheney showed us a schematic of the so-called Al Qaeda headquarters in Afghanistan. It was a total fabrication. That rendering showed a state of the art central location built into the mountains of Afghanistan complete with sophisticated communications and high-tech auxiliary equipment. Somehow Cheney was trying to convince us that this was built without the intelligence community knowing about this massive project. And who pray tell were the contractors that they hired to do this multi-million dollar project? In hindsight, it was only believable at the time because we were so emotionally vulnerable.
Anyone who knows anything about a real intelligence network knows that the capacity to have sophisticated command and control of money and planning would come more likely from an office center in a hostile country or even a friendly country. The capacity to gather and wire money to cells inside and outside the United States would not come from the mountains of Afghanistan or Pakistan. The more likely centralized location for terrorist organizations would be in a European or Asian big city. It would be easy to trace money and arms flowing from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The best intelligence in the world usually comes from Israel and the UK. They would be the first to tell us that the danger of Al Qaeda or any Muslim terrorist organization would not come from a rag tag group of primitives in Afghanistan. So what does the government mean when they say that Al Qaeda is back to full strength in Afghanistan? Perhaps after they are trained there they will board some imaginary ship and try to invade America with a dirty bomb. This nonsense is about as likely as the invasion of America depicted in the 1959 movie The Mouse That Roared by the Duchy of Grand Fenwick.
Those terror color alerts we get remind me of the "duck and cover" alerts we used to have in the 50s. It was great propaganda at the time to scare us to death but after a while we all realized the utter futility of those drills. At least we were then spared a color-coded Soviet threat alert. Furthermore, raising the threat alert to us also notifies our so-called enemies that it is not a good day to attack. Do you think Israel would ever issue a terror alert to its citizens if they had some good intelligence about a pending attack? Israel or any other sane counter intelligence agency would take action without notifying the enemy of a pending attack.
Furthermore, what good does it do the average citizen to have a terror alert? We depend on our government and the police forces to protect us. Without them we are helpless. The only logical conclusion is that the whole purpose of the terror alerts has nothing to do with counter terrorism. It would be about as stupid as notifying Germany on June 6th 1944 that were going to start Operation Overlord.
So what is the big deal about Al Qaeda training in Afghanistan and Pakistan? The targets for them would be in the local neighborhood, which probably would include Israel. Israel is not worried about Al Qaeda. They are worried about Hezbollah and Hammas. I do not believe that the U.S. has anything to worry about an attack coming from Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. The money flow and sophisticated planning would have to come logically from another country in a more technologically advanced location.
Now that we have made terrorism a cottage industry as we did with the military industrial complex, there are too many financial and political interests to stop this nonsense from being disseminated. The politicians, MSM, and armaments industry will continue to promote this phony war on terrorism. What we need is some citizen action to stop this madness. The public should not be made aware of meaningful covert counter intelligence about a possible terrorist threat. Notifying a criminal organization of an impending crime is utter nonsense. And blaming every act of terrorism on Al Qaeda is about as sensible as blaming Jack the Ripper for every rape-murder in the world. America, PLEASE WAKE UP. The real terrorist threat is from our own country.
