Google's Android to Run on Acer Netbooks

Acer is set to be the first PC manufacturer to package its netbooks with Google's Android operating system. One of the finest selling points about Google's OS is that its free, which allows Acer to sell its netbooks at an event cheaper price. Acer will begin selling Android based netbooks in the third quarter.

The Chinese Government has disabled Twitter service throughout the country. The move comes as the country prepares for the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protest. Officials have also blocked YouTube, Flickr and Bing, Microsoft's new search engine, in an effort to crack down on protests and subvert user generated content.

Verizon Wireless will unveil a new application store later this year. The system will run on Java ME, Java's mobile development platform, and will initially only be available on smart phones. The branded app store shows Verizon opening up to third party developers for the first time, a concept proven successful by Apple.

Conan O'Brien's debut as the host of The Tonight Show garnered the highest ratings for the Monday edition in four years. While Conan fell short of Jay Leno's final rating of 8.8 rating/20 share, the show did deliver a 7.1/17 for NBC. The question is whether or not the Jay, Conan, Jimmy Fallon tri-fecta can help NBC return to glory.
