July 1, 2010 - Today's most interesting stories in technology, media and entertainment:

Microsoft's Dead Kin: Just a couple of months after it hit the market, Microsoft will kill its Kin phone. It was aimed at socially-minded teens, but teens ignored it. Some reports say that Microsoft sold as few as 500 units. That doesn't sound like a lot.

Verizon LTE By November: Verizon may be ready to launch its LTE network as soon as November 15th. It will offer super fast mobile Internet access with speeds as high as 12 Mbp. Verizon hopes to have the service available to 100 million Americans in roughly 30 markets by the end of the year. LTE is an abbreviation for Long Term Evolution, Verizon's 4G network.

Hot Sony Recall: Can you cook an egg on your Sony VAIO laptop? You just might be able to. Sony is acknowledged that some of its laptops are dangerously overheating. The recall affects about a half a million F and C Series Vaio laptops sold after January 2010.
