Slumdog Millionaire and HBO lead the way at the Golden Globes last night. Danny Boyle's film about a game show contestant from Mumbai took home four Golden Globes, while HBO took home seven for shows like John Adams, In Treatment and True Blood. Heath Ledger also took home an award for his role as the Joker in Batman: The Dark Knight.
CBS's TV.com is expected to announce programming deals today with MGM, Sony, PBS, Endemol USA and Showtime. The programming deals focus on establishing a roster for which TV.com can compete with NBC-FOX venture HULU, which licenses movies and shows from a host of production companies.
While overall attendance at this years CES was down, Randy Fry of Fry Electronics noted that this year had "the most CEOs in attendance since I can remember and they are on the show floor." Kudos to Gary Shapiro, Cindy Hoag and the rest of the CES team for putting on an excellent show and reinforcing the importance of industry trade shows during the on-going economic crisis.
Good news for folks at Intel. Despite the fact that revenue could be down 23% year over year, the worlds largest chip maker announced that they will not have to make additional job cuts. CEO Paul Otellini said "the restructuring we did in 2006 has put us in a good position to weather the current economic environment."
