YouTube to Sell Search Ads: MediaBytes with Shelly Palmer November 13, 2008

YouTube will begin selling search ads. The ads will appear on search result queries, part of its effort to increase ad revenue. Advertisers will be able to bid on specific keywords, in order to find an appropriate location for ads.

LG, Sharp and Chunghwa Picture Tubes have pleaded guilty and agreed to pay $585 million in fines for fixing the price of LCD display panels. Despite recent drops in the price of flat screen TV's, prices would have fallen even faster if the three companies hadn't fixed the prices. LG, who received the bulk of the fine ($400 mill), will pay the second highest criminal fine ever imposed by the Department of Justice's antitrust division.

Intel has cut its outlook for the fourth quarter. The chip manufacturer believes that sales will decline roughly 12% from the third quarter. Just a few weeks ago, Intel noted that sales would increase approximately 3% during the fourth quarter.

Research In Motion will release the BlackBerry Storm through Verizon on November 21. The touch screen smartphone will retail for $199, after a subsidy, $50 mail-in rebate and agreeing to a two-year contract. The iPhone-like Storm is BlackBerry's first experiment with "click-screen" technology.
