RMHC Day of Change

Have you ever thought to yourself that you want to help and give back to others but then you decide not to because you don't have the funds to do so? Monday, July 1 you will have the opportunity to give without breaking the bank. You may think, "It's just one penny." or "How much can one person really help?" but when pennies, nickels and dimes add up it can help change the lives of families and help children heal with the support of Ronald McDonald House® Charities. In fact small change dropped into Donation Boxes helped raise more than $28 million last year all across the United States.

On July 1, 2013, Ronald McDonald House® Charities and its local Chapters once again invite you to join us for the RMHC Day of Change. All you have to do is stop into your local participating McDonald's restaurant and drop your small change into an RMHC Donation Box. Help us make a big impact on the 7 million children and families served by RMHC annually. Spread the word, tell your friends and family, and make sure to get a group together to celebrate the Day of Change at your local McDonald's. Coin by coin, dollar by dollar, your change will add up to make big change when dropped into an RMHC Donation Box on July 1st.

Your change can help children like Allison. In her own words here is what Allison's mother had to say. "My daughter, Allison was diagnosed with cancer in Shreveport, LA and we were immediately sent to Memphis for treatment. Two days later doctors confirmed the devastating news that Allison had Stage IV Neuroblastoma. After a few weeks at the hospital, we moved to Ronald McDonald House® of Memphis. Ronald McDonald House of Memphis was warm and inviting, as were the staff and other families, and after a few weeks we felt like we had found a place to call HOME for the next eight months. Coming from a small town of 700 people who always look after one another, we loved that Ronald McDonald House of Memphis gave us that same feeling. The daily activities, meals together, common meeting places and endless kind and wonderful volunteers allowed Alli and me to move beyond our discomforts and find the comforts of home in our 'home-away-from-home.' When you battle childhood cancer you feel helpless and long for a place to call home and that is what Ronald McDonald House became for us. The staff, volunteers and families provided a rich source of encouragement, wisdom, entertainment and faith. They are a part of who we are."

This is just one story of the thousands that those of us working in a Ronald McDonald House® hear about the children and families that touch our lives. Kids like Alli and her mom remind those of us who are dealing with "normal" life issues to not sweat the small stuff, count our blessings and not take life so seriously.

Please help Ronald McDonald House® Charities on July 1, 2013 by dropping your change off in a Donation Box in any participating McDonald's restaurant. You never know when your life will be turned upside down and you are thrown into chaos and life altering changes like Alli and her mom.
