Makerbot Continues to Bring 3D Printing To Masses at CES 2013

There's a lot of talk and action around one of the hottest tech products at CES 2013: the 3D printer. While many companies and manufacturers are taking a stab at their own prototypes, Lewis Hilsenteger from Unbox Therapy gets the inside scoop from MakerBot CEO Bre Pettis, the originator of the 3D printer.

"We empower people to innovate," Pettis says. "The industrial revolution was all about machinery and people going to the factories to make things. Now, with a MakerBot, you've got the factory on your desktop and you get to make the things you want. You don't have to rely on other people to do it."

He informs us that just like a 2D printer that takes a virtual 2D image and turns it into a physical document, the MakerBot takes a virtual 3D model and makes it a physical 3D model.

What would you print with your 3D printer?
