Lil Jon is a rapper, producer, DJ and entrepreneur. He's known for his rambunctious catch phrases and ceaseless energy, as well as being a star of two seasons on Celebrity Apprentice.
He's also the mentor in the Music category of Shopify's Build A Business Competition. His job is to provide wisdom and insight to shops selling music and trying to make their way in the industry.
Here's what he had to say in response to some of the questions you asked:
I never knew what I would be or do when I was younger. Everything evolved out of nowhere. My branding developer because I always put my all into my work, and always wanted to be identified with great shit.
Jay Z, Dre and Kanye.
Jay Z and me are similar cause we have both been able to stay relevant even though we are way older than the younger rappers out there.
Dre cause I grew up being a big fan of N.W.A. and all of his production.
Ye cause we would make some crazy shit.
You build a following by pure blood, sweat and tears. Being everywhere, jumping on tracks - but it's quality, not quantity. Most of the EDM records I have been on have done really well.
It was amazing to see see someone meet you, and not know much about you, and then grow to have major respect for you and your cause. Especially a living legend like Mr. Trump.
My back up is basically my gut, my feeling, my instinct. I go with wherever that takes me.
This year, Shopify's Build A Business Competition is bigger than ever. Shopify is giving away more than $500,000 in cash, prizes and mentorship in its fourth annual competition. Contestants create a store and try to sell the most in their category for a chance to win $50,000 and a VIP trip to NYC to meet their mentor.
