Shu’s 15-year legal career has centered on real estate oversight and business development. In 2000, she became in-house counsel for Lehman Brothers Global Real Estate Group, managing clients, internal staff, and third party venders, and negotiating debt and equity transactions. She served as general counsel for the firm’s real estate investments in Asia, and was instrumental in building Lehman’s origination platform in South Korea.

Prior to her position at Lehman Brothers, Shu worked as an attorney with Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP, where she represented landowners and tenants, and formed joint ventures and partnerships on behalf of financial institutions.

The youngest of five, Shu immigrated with her family from South Korea at the age three. Growing up in ethnically diverse Queens fostered Shu’s talent at navigating unfamiliar situations and gaining the trust of different constituencies -- attributes that helped fuel her future success. Shu is a risk-taker, a master at developing strong relationships and orchestrating people, their varied interests, and skill set to reach a common goal. She earned a Bachelor’s in Legal Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Juris Doctorate from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago-Kent College of Law. She is admitted to practice in Hawaii and New York.

Shu resides in Connecticut with her husband Bill, and their two children, Peter and Avery.
