Sidney Switzer is a triplet who lives on a farm with her two brothers and two moms in rural Western Pennsylvania. She is a high honors student in a gifted high school program at The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. She has been taking high school classes since 7th grade, AP classes since 9th grade, and has been dual enrolled on full scholarship at Clarion University since 10th grade. At 15 she was inducted a year early into the National Honor Society. In 2011 she was elected as president of the Photography Club when she was the youngest member of the club; she has since been reelected in 2012 and again in 2013. She is also a member of the Newspaper Club and the Art Club. Sidney also competes with Academic Games Leagues of America. She was the youngest in her school to ever go to nationals when she was in 5th grade, and she has qualified for nationals every year since. Over the years she has earned dozens of local, regional and nationals awards in Linguishtiks, Presidents, Propaganda & Equations. Sidney also trains 6 days a week for softball. She is a catcher and bats 4th for Pittsburgh Spirit's 16U Gold Showcase team. She earned 1 of 24 catcher's positions for the Queen of Diamonds North Showcase, a competition where nearly 3000 of the country's best softball players apply to compete in front of hundreds of college coaches. She will also represent the USA at the Europe Cup in the Netherlands in January 2014 as part of the North America Select Team. In 2012 she was a featured panelist at the Out & Equal Summit in Baltimore where she spoke about being the child of LGBT parents. She was invited to return as part of the Out & Equal Town Call series in 2013. Also in 2013, at 15, she wrote a workshop proposal entitled "Straight Talk from Teens about Having Not-So-Straight Parents." She put together a panel of speakers, and they presented the first workshop ever produced by youth at the Out & Equal Summit in Minneapolis. Currently, she is working with people from GLSEN, Google, and her high school to found the first GSA in a cyber school environment. After high school, she plans on attending a top tier university to study communications and international relations.
