“I've met Libertarians & they all have the "I got mine, $crew you" mentality. When I point out that a majority of them benefit from a single-payer system (the VA) they just get mad & start throwing the patriot card.

The Libertarian platform is just asking to go back to the days where only the rich were educated & the rest of us get treated like serfs.”

“Well, if you have no confidence in your intellectual aptitudes, then I cannot help you. You ought to be doing blue collar work if you are not suited to being promoted through higher channels. As it stands, poor students are sentenced to STAY poor unless they are willing to commit crimes. How is this better? And perhaps the "Libertarians" you have met do not properly understand the philosophy. I have been one of the main proponents of the movement, and the leaders of this movement do not feel the way you say these people do. What you describe are the plutocrats who are already in power.”

“There is plenty of detailed information about the Grassroots Libertarian movement on the internet if you are interested. Personally, I think it has merit. It's all about personal freedoms and a smaller, more efficient government serving people who are willing to work hard and play by the rules. Everybody wins.”

“It's like the tea baggers who scream and rail against public health when they receive Veteran's benefits and Medicare.

For some reason they feel entitled and want to withhold health care from masses they perceive as lazy and looking for handouts. It's some weird social punishment program based on faulty facts.

Fact is, it's much cheaper for us to band together and provide preventive care than it is for the tax system to be saddled with open heart surgery costs from someone who can't afford them. If people are paying on-average 36% for insurance and co-pays, wouldn't it be better if they couldn't be denied care for preexisting conditions or dropped because of illness?”

The Government Needs to Take the Reins In Job Creation

Commented Oct 22, 2009 at 00:52:20 in Politics

“Really, then why is FRD regarded as one of the greatest presidents of our country?”

CommunistUtopia replied on Oct 24, 2009 at 23:59:12

“He is not. Only liberals and academics think he was any good. FDR, LBJ, and Jimmy Carter were the worst Presidents of all time. That is true if you like freedom, prosperity, and economic fairness. Otherwise, if you like a tyrannical government then he was an all time great.”

ImmanuelGoldstein replied on Oct 22, 2009 at 06:03:13

“Indeed, those people back in the 30's must have been reeeeeely stupid to re-elect FDR 3 times (more than anyone in history) if they didn't think he was helping the situation.
By the way since when is saying that "WW2 got us out of the depression" and argument against gov't stimulus spending? At the height of the war total government's spending was a whopping 50% of our GDP! That's equivalent of about $6Trillion at present.
Wingnuts spout revisionist history and aren't even smart enough to revise it to support their point!”

The Government Needs to Take the Reins In Job Creation

Commented Oct 21, 2009 at 21:26:25 in Politics

“Hey, you do realize that the Great Depression started in 1929 when Hervert Hoover was president, right?

Oh wait, that might shatter your reality.

Despite what you believe, FDR did more to get us out of the Great Depression than Hoover, who did nothing.

But keep preaching that revisionist history, it's entertaining.”

CommunistUtopia replied on Oct 21, 2009 at 23:44:29

“With FDR policies the Great Depression lasted all the way through the 1930s. We didn't get out until WWII. FDR was one of the worst Presidents of all time. Oh yeah, now we have Social Security that we are paying for and it is now an unfunded liability in the Trillions.”

“Well, I guess I'm an elitist now (wish I knew that when I grew up on food stamps).

Yes, anyone can report a burning building, but if not done correctly the reporting can be sloppy.

Like it or not, there are traits in journalism that not everyone can do.”

samjung23 replied on Jul 15, 2009 at 19:35:47

“"...But if not done correctly, the reporting can be sloppy"?

Hey bud, I can find information out as easily as you can. The difference between an ordinary bystander and a reporter is that the latter is paid to be pushy and care. The former can hang out at the bar and get the same information from people that actually know. In my opinion, asking people on the inside is definitely a lot more accurate than getting the "official word." Most newspapers and TV will NEVER report what actually happened.

There was an incident that happened a few years ago. I'm not going into detail, but I ran into a few of the people that were involved. I learned a lot more about the incident than any of the local newspapers or TV stations did, or cared to report. These were first-hand sources. The reporters did a TERRIBLE job, in my opinion. You guys are not worth what you think you are.”
