“I found that a bit surprising. I, at least, always assumed that on social issues like abortion and sex education she had pretty clearly positions (positions to which I strenuously object). It's a little disconcerting that her staff felt the need to ask the McCain campaign to confirm her positions. I think it says as much about the McCain campaign as it does about Sarah Palin and her staff.”

2. If you're focusing on the "cuddliness" of the Mormon family, you missed the entire point of the episode which spoke largely on the fairly ridiculous beginnings of the Mormon church.

“That's ridiculous. Explain to me in what way it was courageous. Maybe, and I mean a huge maybe, if she had actually not gone on stage with them it could possibly be considered courageous because it might have damaged her image with moderate Republicans. She did go on stage though. And I wouldn't call her pro-life so much as anti-abortion. I respect people who can choose to be pro-life for themselves and who try to pass that onto their children, but people who are actively for stripping choice from others without regard to situation is beyond comprehension.

She isn't courageous. She does what is politically expeditious for her. I'm betting the McCain campaign didn't put a gun to her head to get her up there.”

“Normal values?! I'm not saying she's doesn't know that Africa is a continent, that seems a little...well completely unbelievable. But I think "normal values" is a pretty big stretch. Is it "normal" to think that charging women for their own rape kits is okay? Is it "normal" to think that a woman shouldn't be able to have an abortion even in the case of rape or incest?

Besides, even if she does know where Africa is, she doesn't understand how the first amendment works. She's a journalism major and doesn't know how the first amendment works.

If that's a candidate with "normal values" then I'll take lying scheming politicians any day of the week.”

“This is just sad, man. Why does he have to drop out of high school? What exactly is the harm in him going to high school for one more year? There's no way that the Palin and Johnston familles don't have the resources between them to get these kids at the very very least through high school. What kind of future are their families giving them? More than that, what is Sarah Palin saying to pregnant teenagers (and teenage impregnators) all over the United States? Hey, you're having a baby, time to quit your life and fade into the ever grower ranks of people who don't get the education to follow their dreams. I had to leave college for financial reasons, and since then I've gotten married and had a baby, but I consider it my duty as a parent to finish my bachelor's degree at the very least as an example to my child.”

“How about you go ahead and ask the questions about Barack Obama? What is it that you want to know? Seriously, every time I hear people wonder "who Barack Obama really is" I have to wonder what information they're lacking. The reason I point it out is because I think he's made his background and life story fairly clear. I think the problem is that you want to keep asking the questions over and over until he gives you the answers you want. The answer you want is not forthcoming. When have people not challenged him on Ayers, Farrakhan, Wright or Rezko? Have you been living in a cave? He was questioned about Rezko during several of the many Democratic candidate debates. I'm guessing you didn't watch them. And I'm not even to go into all the scrutiny concerning Rev. Wright. (Where was the scrutiny over John Hagee, that's what I wonder.)

You know what I want to know? What's John McCain's plan for America? I've seen his website, and while his basic positions may be sort of clear his plans aren't. On Barack Obama's website I can see detailed plans for education, energy policy, even internet neutrality. At this point I'm not even sure that John McCain would know what net neutrality is.

So yes, let's go ahead and pull out Sarah Palin's achievements. I'd love to know that she has any.”

He married his dreamgirl, but he had no idea she had bad credit so now they are living in her parent's basement. They were forced to live in her parents' basement because what? They couldn't possibly get an apartment? He couldn't apply for a home loan in his name only? And then he says that if he'd gone to freecreditreport.com he'd be a happy bachelor with a dog and a yard. So what he's saying is that the love of his life isn't worth it because she has bad credit. And I'm not saying him personally, the writers of this commercial and more importantly freecreditreport.com advocate that if your significant other has bad credit you should ditch them and move on to greener pastures.
I did go to the site though once, I have to say it's totally misleading, but if you read what you're signing up for it does say there's a 14.95 monthly fee. That's why I didn't sign up. In fact, anything that's supposed to be free and asks for my credit card number is something that I would immediately ask questions about. So yeah...maybe that guy should have read a little more closely. Nevertheless, freecreditreport.com is a load of crap and I hate their commercials.”
