Merrill Backs Bush

Bush derives much of his campaign donations from executives at publicly traded companies, with employees at Merrill Lynch & Co., UBS AG and MBNA Corp. among those making up 13 of his top 20 donors last year, contributing $2.9 million.

Six of the top 20 donors to Senator John Kerry, who has clinched the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, were employees of listed companies, and they gave $275,000 since he began campaigning in January 2003, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

“I am not a Republican and will not ever vote for one to be the "leader" of trhis country, but I want to pose a gentle reminder. Hillary Clinton, the proposed new SOS, voted for the war and refused to recognize for years, that her vote was a disaster, causing the deaths of probably a million people, who did not ask to be born where they were born. She is now the next SOS. She joined with McCain to promote sending more troops, when it became clear to even the most uninformed citizen, that there were n o WMD in Iraq, it had nothing to do with the attacks on the WTC, and that the entire invasion was built upon a lie by Bush, Rice, Cheney and Rumsfeld and others in power.

Democrats voted for it, as well as Republicans. There is no party that is going to miraculously bring the country to an equilibrium re the classes. They are all a great big club in DC, going to their parties and toasting and forging connections with the lobbyists and their Republican compatriots. Health care? No way both parties are going to push against big Pharma, making obscene amounts of money over the helplessness of the common man, if he needs medication. No way.

We don't need to romanticize the Democrats in this. It's all a little tete a tete with the other millionairs in congress, Republicans or Democrats, who are playing the game. No saviour will fix it.

Gays are not greedy when we for equally rights under laws that guarantee equal rights. (That's in the constituti­on--twice.­) Rather, it's bigots who are piggishly trying to enshrine their bigotry into the constitution before their minority becomes too small. Because if Prop. 8 passes, it will be challenged and overturned. Then it will be taken to SCOTUS. SCOTUS doesn't want to touch this with a bargepole, but like Loving v Virginia, it's going to happen. And the longer it takes, the more money is spent on it.

I hate to use the expression, "Let's get this over with", but there is no rhyme nor reason to fighting the inevitable. Gay marriage is already protected - do we taxpayers really have to pay expensive lawyers to verify what we already know?”

If you vote in favor of Prop. 8, you're basically signing your name under this statement: "I don't like gay people."
