Report Reveals That One Million African-Americans Identify As LGBT

Report Reveals That One Million African-Americans Identify As LGBT

Commented Oct 20, 2013 at 14:04:12 in Black Voices

“Wrong. Blacks do not make up the "largest share" of the LGBT community. They just have the largest proportion of their population (4.6% vs. 4.2(latino) vs. 3.2(caucasian)). It's not hard to do the math. There are far more whites and thus, ultimately, whites make up a significant majority of the LGBT community. Just wanted to point out incorrect wording in this article. It would have to take some extraordinary circumstances for the Black population in this country to make up the largest share of the LGBT community, given their far lower % of total population.”

“Its so amazing how people get things wrong, people also forget that Blacks only make up 15 percent of the population. This is how people run away with misinformation. And who cares by the way, should we be trying to to figure out how to provide more jobs than worrying about some random people's lifestyle or should we continue to skirt the real issues.”

“Thank you for the clarification, but I did not get where the article claimed that there are more gay blacks than the any other race in total numbers. Perhaps I missed it, if so I apologize. I do like how you put it, that is a far more basic and easy way of presenting that info. I also wish they would be more clear that the percentage is only the homosexuals that have made the choice to be openly public about their orientation. It does not reflect the ones that have not, and it does not reflect the bisexuals.”

Lindsey Graham Has Meltdown Over Earmark Cut In Budget Deal

Lindsey Graham Has Meltdown Over Earmark Cut In Budget Deal

Commented Apr 15, 2011 at 09:27:08 in Politics

“Being a resident of Charleston, this is an immediate and highly necessary thing to tackle. If funding is going to go to Savannah at the total of $600,000, then it only makes sense to take care of the port in Charleston, too. $50,000 is a drop in the bucket and it really should have been $400,000 allocated. This article is irresponsible and ad-hominem. It targets a member for "earmarks," which is the epitome of stupidity. Anything can be an earmark. And the man has a right to get upset - this is his state, his constituents, who got screwed over by the administration. And I'm a liberal - very liberal, but Lindsey Graham is an asset in the Senate. He can lure at least a small number of Republicans across the aisle on things like climate change. Making him angry over something so small is borderline idiotic.”

“As a former resident of Charleston, I can understand the need to deepen Charleston harbor. However, Graham shows himself as a hypocrite when it comes to earmarks.

The Republican Party demonized earmarks so this is what Senator Graham should expect. Of course, he has to make waves so people will continuously vote for him.”

“I agree with you that sometimes earmarks are necessary. But, the point here seems to be the hypocrisy of Republicans when it comes to publicly decrying, then complaining about not getting, earmarks.

Graham should complain about not getting necessary money. Especially when it means putting jobs at risk. But, he should know better than to try to demonize the concept itself for partisan political gain.”

“This is not about jobs or the merits of the project -- which I understand is debatable. This is about his hypocrisy and his attempts to hold the entire confirmation process hostage because he didn't get his way! This is no way to run government and you as a self-described liberal should know this. Your defense of his baby tantrum over the loss of $50k is the epitome of stupidity. I feel comfortable stating that you would abhore this kind of behavior if it was another Senator from another state. This behavior should never be condoned, especially if it only serves a community's narrow self-interest.”

“everyting is a drop int he bucket when cutting the budget and no wants to cut there stuff. What do think if you cut to someone else and it does not effect you that is good cutting but ince it effects you it is bad. that is why we have this issue to start with no one wants to give up the stuff important to them!”
