“I'm wondering if any of those involved in corruption scandals in China didn't get training from some of our politicians in Washington? It's amazing how often govt officials here spew out about corruption around the world but never once mention their colleagues. I understand 44% of our house members are millionaires!

I have to give credit to the current Chinese administration in weeding out corrupted people and most won't ever have a chance to get involved in the future because they're looking up at the "Roses."”

“It's amazing how the politicians take us to war and want the young troops to do their fighting for them. Now, we have a problem, with the continuation of war, troop levels will drop because many will return home be discharged. To deny an extension of unemployment, the lack of jobs, individuals will be joining the military as a last resort. Most I'm sure are more concerned about taking responsibility for their family to ensure they've a place to sleep and food on the table.
Since Politicians take their salaries via taxpayers of America, maybe we should stop paying taxes and put the politicians out on the street even without retirement benefits. The same politicians are doing it to the elderly who depend on their COLA for social security, and there are a number of military retirees who will not receive COLA. Why should politicians be treated differently and what war did they fight in!”

“I'm not supportive or against something I don't know about. "Public option" in my opinion should be spelled out totally as to what the cost will be etc. To me, it's nothing but a lot of talk and no durable facts are being presented for the whole insurance reform.”

“I have to admit I supported & voted for Pres Obama based on his rhetoric during his campaign. I was hoping he would be more concerned about our wonderful country. It seems like his actions are 180 degrees from his speeches and that may be contributed to the fact the politicians in Washington are more concerned about their own agenda then what is best for America. Turkey turned Israel away from the Drill, and the US followed suit, why? Turkey did one hell'va job during the Korean war but I guess politicians turned their backs on the Turkish people. If Iran complies with UN and IAEA why can't they have nuclear power? Who have they invaded and why is Israel able to keep its nuclear arsenal and is not a member of the NPT? In the eyes of the Arabs, I'm sure they are skeptical about the situation both by Israel & Iran.”

“I' m amazed and confused over Afghanistan. Remember when the Soviets attacked Afghanistan? Then Charley Wilson a Texas Congressman, was so opposed to the millions of Afghanistanis being killed, decided he would do all he could to drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan with some help from CIA. He made several trips to Afghanistan and was told by their people, they don't want food or shelter but provide them with guns so they could defeat the enemy. Well, Wilson went to Egypt to buy weapons that were Russian made and they were sent to Afghanistan along with the Stinger missile made by US. The Russians were defeated and that saved a lot of lives. The US failed to provide assitance subsequently. Now, today in my opinion we are doing the same thing that we were against by invading Afghanistan when the people involved were in 9/11 were not Afghanistanis. I guess maybe the bodies lying on the ground that one can see on TV were left back when Soviets invaded, even with fresh blood on the streets.”

“As one with prior service before the all volunteer service and the "DADT', there were a minute number of personnel discharged from service who were caught engaging in sexual acts with same sex. The UCMJ 1951 prohibited at that time prohibited these type acts. Recently in speaking with some active duty personnel about the opinion of "GL's" in military service, they advised they would complete their current enlistment and then leave the military.”

“I've a relative who as a "Seabee" served in Vietnam, and upon completion returned to civilian life and worked with a Nuclear Power Plant in Fla up until his retirement at age 62. Of course, At the time, it never donned on him that he would lose his health insurance . So he became ill and found that he had cancer of the liver. At the age of 64 he thought when he reached 65 he would be able to get health insurance. Unfortunately, he was admitted to a hospital in Al and after four days was released due to the fact he needed a liver transplant and had no health insurance. I've spoken with him about every two days or so for a maximum time of 2 minutes because I could tell he was near out of breath. When I spoke with him on Friday, he advised me he was taking morphine shots, and even though he is using oxygen tanks, he has weakened. considerably. He was a good size individual over 6 ft tall weighed about 230 lbs and said if I would see him now, I wouldn't recognize him because the skin on his arms are dangling, his stomach is puffed way out and reminding me he looks like those poor African children in Durfur who are starving. I believe that reform is needed to provide health care to individuals with pre-conditions.”

“Based on what I'm reading she should be fired. The unfortunate being as time goes on a number of newspapers will be out of business. I just received an ad attached to my paper yesterday that one could have home delivery for $1.75 for a week (7 days). This to me is sad as I enjoy reading our local just to keep up with events.”

“In my opinion the Scottish court did the right thing by being compassionate knowing the man has terminal cancer and won't be around much longer. There were previous articles where the courts were not sure that man was guilty of any charges and when the man wanted to appeal his court case he was asked to withdraw his appeal to possibly permit release from prison. So, I believe juridically , it was the right thing to do but not politically! Can anyone tell me who went to jail when the Iran plane was shot down killing I believe around 290 people? I don't believe anyone was charged because it was a so called "Mistake."”

“I totally agree! Everyone seems to want reform but don't have any idea of what the cost will be until it is borne out and then it might be too late. For many who are satisified with their current insurance companies, will their cost go up or down? Probably it will go up! I believe people who are suffering and can't afford insurance then their family should step up to the plate if that is possible.
I'm totally satisifed with my insurance and I don't want change.”

“In my opinion, Obama did not fire the Lt. Currently there is a law "Don't ask & Don't tell" and if that rule isn't followed, then the Lt has no reason to complain. He was on public TV stating he was gay. Obama doesn't have the authority to fire him. The only way they can retain the Lt in military service is that Congress step up to the plate and change the law.”

“When I heard that Geithner signed an agreement statement to settle his taxes by receiving money from IMF and in lieu of paying taxes stuffed the money in his pocket until he was tapped for Scy of Treasury, then made the statement he had forgotten to file his taxes. Ever since then, I've no trust in the individual. I believe a thorough investigation is needed.”

“When I want different analysis from what is presented by our media, I usually turn to Satellite Channels #9415 "Free Speech" or 9410 "Democracy now. Those are two great channels in addition to BBC. I also have many International channels where the information is even more clearer. I do hope Huffington Post has great success with journalists in comparison to the investigative journalists that now appear on the major TV channels of this country. We are not getting all the necessary facts whereby we can make our own decisions. The Afghans & Iraqis want us to leave their country. How would we as Americans feel if we were occupied by foreign troops from around the world? Would we not be against them? Wouldn't we fight for our own country even if we were called: "Terrorists>"”

“When one understands that Geithner went to the IMF asking for money to pay his taxes, and in lieu of paying taxes pocketed the money however once tapped for Scy Treasure he acknowledged he made a mistake and failed to pay taxes. Knowing he would have to come clean he finally paid his taxes. Now, what would expect of this individual??”

Secondly all those thousands of people locked up behind a fence like a animals in a cage and when we listen to Bush he puts the blame on Hamas. It was Bush who twisted Abbas arm to have people vote for their leaders and they did. So don't always wish for something you might get it. The other thing is since 1948 our government has given our taxpayers dollars in the amount over $104 trillion dollars, to Israel and I'm stymied as to why. Secondly, they used foreign aid to build settlements and it isn't even on their own land but land stolen from the Palestinians.
When we read where people around the world are demonstrating the outrage of Israel's tactics you can see our media doesn't come out with facts but only cover up!”

When I was asked if I would vote for Gore, I replied there was no way I would vote for Gore because of his running mate and I voted for Bush. A lot of my friends also indicated there was no way they would vote for Gore when the saw the name even though when I asked them if they knew Lieberman and they responded "No" but they said the name said it all.”
