What's Ahead for the Economy and Politics in 2010

Commented Jan 05, 2010 at 11:12:25 in Politics

“Predictions? Its as clear as writing on the wall. Obama and the dems will continue to backtrack on their promises and will keep on betraying progressive ideals and selling out. And it will cost them in the next election. Big time.”

hark replied on Jan 05, 2010 at 11:54:13

“I wish that were true, that Americans would punish the Democrats for being too timid, too centrist, but it isn't. Progressives must take off those rose-colored glasses and deal with reality, or be forever lost in this country as they have been for the last thirty years. The American people are conservative. They are not progressive; they hate and fear their government. They have been brainwashed by thirty years of propaganda. They did not wake up in the 2006 and 2008 elections. They simply rejected George Bush and his gross incompetence. They did not reject conservatism, or embrace progressivism.

They are not angry at Democrats for doing too little. They are angry at them for doing too much, for socialism, for government takeovers. They are terrified by the national debt and deficit, and Democratic polices which will only exacerbate them. They are blind to the idea of a national investment in 21st century infrastructure, energy and transportation.

The real danger is that the American people will revolt against liberals again, as the culprit in this terrible economy, and throw the bums out in 2010 and 2012. This could usher in another era of Reaganomics, a doubling down on the policies that are sinking this country. More tax cuts for the rich, deregulation and perpetual warring against our "enemies."

It's the Tea Partiers whose voices are being heard, not the progressives.”

“While I like the president, I do think your assessment is essentially correct. I'm far from impressed so far and hope he gets some new ideas and advisors soon.”

“By your argument on who has the power "to influence political outcomes" , it would seem that Obama, who was so heavily involved in the last NJ governor's election failed to meet your standards as well, Chris Christie should not be the new Gov. if Obama had that power. But sadly enough, there is now a Republican gov. in NJ”

Edmonsky replied on Jan 03, 2010 at 10:48:55

“I am afraid; you missed the import of the argument. Let me break it down. Noisy progressive commentators claim by self-inflation and empty political gravitas to be the base of Democrat Party. My point is that they are not. In clear terms, they are only over-exaggerating their power and capacity because of access to and utility of blogosphere.

If you have now come to terms the extra-ordinary achievement of Obama as a minority and African American to win the presidency of US, then, there is a confounding and inexplicable problem at play.”

This article totally misses the boat. Totally.”

Seems some if not most of the blame should go to the bamboozler, not just those that got bamboozled.”

“you're a broken record on this subject already. There is no excuse whatsoever for the sex-abuse scandal but to suggest that the majority of priests knew something about it is a lie. What's more, unless you have some proof that Bishop Tobin was an accomplice in the sex-abuse matter, you're defaming an innocent man. I thought the subject was Kennedy and Tobin on the issue of abortion. Too bad people like you ignore the positive things that the Catholic church does in the world. Do you know anything at all about the care the Church provides through Catholic Social Services? Maybe you should educate yourself before you throw out the baby with the bath water.”

But Obama doesn't wan't to spend his political capital on things that dont' help his reelection prospects. People do have gay friends of color, Anonymous. You think that's unlikely? Impossibly rare? This is why the left can't retain influence in this country. We're all so eager to throw each others' credentials in the fire.”

mikefina replied on Nov 29, 2009 at 13:37:41

They put docterinal emphasis on one (the protection of life, in all its phases).

They were negligent, criminally I would argue, in the administration of their affairs and the protection of well-being of the children in their charge.

HOWEVER, they don't emphasize or advocate the abuse of life, they were as a matter of conduct insufficiently vigilant in protecting the life they prize.”
