“So it that why he lied about DOMA and DADT? Seems like lies come way too easy for him.”

ccoppe replied on Dec 03, 2009 at 15:16:48

“1. Always on record as being against gay marriage - but for civil unions.
2. DADT - Again, those are changes POTUS committed to make. Just because they weren't done at the preferred warp speed pace of the LGBT community doesn't make the President a liar.”

“As Obama continues to show his cowardice by remaining silent on this issue (he doesn't want to speak against his friend Rick Warren) I am at least thankful that Hillary Clinton (who has always been a true "fierce advocate") actually stepped up to the plate and spoke out quite forcefully against this shameful bigotry. The administrations first comment was to basically agree with Rick Warren, but outrage filtered across the LGBT blogs and news sites yesterday (as well as HuffPo's attention to the matter) and it seems Hillary had heard enough:

“******NEWS UPDATE*******

This new bit of info sadly shocks even me, and for those that still love and support Obama, you might want to sit down.

The Obama Administration AGREES with Rick Warren and says it is not their place to condemn genocide and the murder of gay people, and that countries should be able to pass this type of legislation if the desire:

“Yep, that Obama sure knows how to pick a good pastor to honor. Whats scary is this is so similiar to how the Christian churches and political leaders in America and around the world refused to condemn Hitler in the 1930's when he began to build up a nationlist Nazi movement by demonizing gay people and blaming them for the countries problems. The Nazi's took over, closed down all gay clubs and meeting spots (Berlin once had a thriving gay community in the 1920s and 1930s) gay people were imprisoned (often ending up in concentration camps) and many died there. Today in America we see the same thing happening. While it is encouragaing that the British Prime Minister has spoken out against the Ugandan law, it sad that President Obama refuses to do so, much the same as his favorite pastor, Rick Warren.”

captain hooker replied on Nov 30, 2009 at 16:24:46

“I haven't seen any gay people being rounded up or imprisoned in the US. I'll admit, they have a bit to go before their rights are truly equal, but I think most would agree that the trajectory is in a positive direction, not a negative one.”

“Rick Warren is very influential in Africa. And it should come as no surprise that the Ugandan law calling for the murder of gay people is a tactic often used in the past. In the 1930's Hitler used the demonization of gay people to help build up the Nazi regime. Check your history books. Hatred against gays has long been a calling card of brutal regimes.”

“So the people that worked hard and actually lived up to thier commitments and paid their bills get nothingo (except to be punished even further and see thier property values plummet) because some irresponsible people refuse to pay their bills or honor their contracts. So if you play by the rules you get burned, but if you cheat, you get a bail out.

Yep, that sound really fair.”
