oh, wait....

maybe not such a bad idea after all”

Michael Steele impugning anyone of colour who.... no wait, he does that already

but my argument stands. A man who stands up in public and spews anti-gay propaganda - lies - while sleeping with men at night needs to be shown where the line is. You can't straddle it and live.”

so you have to ask where it went?

and when you have the answer (hint Cheney, Haliburton), you can begin to understand the depth of the crisis.”

“Are these anonymous sources completely mad? Or just tired of being in office? This was quite easily the best speech for decades. It was clear, concise and it spoke to a public desperate for authority, intelligence, understanding, empathy and a sense of clarity. It was 53 minutes of outline, not a line-by-line detail - it was a talk-back to the media meltdown of recent weeks which has been relentlessly pro Republican.

I am trying to imagine any member of the GOP giving anything like this kind of content and context. And then I'm trying to imagine if anyone would be stupid enough to carp about it the day after. That's Limbaugh's job. You guys get a grip and carp about detail when you see it.”

I dearly, dearly want Obama to be different, but this and the retention of Bagram air base are rubbing the glitter off pretty fast. I truly don't believe this man has qualities we need, nor that there aren't a thousand other, better qualified individuals. Amalek replied on Oct 29, 2008 at 05:24:40

“The republicans learned more than a decade ago that the most important political offices for them to win are the county clerks and state secretaries of state. The jobs, while usually political, have traditionally been held by little old ladies who are more civil servants than politicians. The republicans recognized that these are the people who run the elections. So they found real party hacks to run for those jobs - people with no ethics and a willingness to do anything to help the party win. They can manage the voter registration and deregistration process to their advantage, select technology that lets them control the results, and count the vote as they see fit with limited oversight. Once the republicans had those positions they could make certain they win the other elections. We saw this in 2000, but have not focused enough on getting these people out of office.”
