Meltdown: Images of What We Lose When the Glaciers Disappear

“All environmental issues are critical. Still haven't heard the cry go out to stop countries like Brazil, some African areas, the US northwest coast, etc. that are destroying the forests, to STOP ! These forests maintian the earth's moisture and are the breath of life for this planet along with the living oceans. Greed and short sightedness are turning this planet into a dessert.”
Oprah's Replacement: Who Should Be The Next King/Queen Of Daytime TV? (POLL)
Commented Nov 20, 2009 at 21:26:41 in Media
“How about a different focus ... really tired of people's problems. That is not a criticism of Oprah. She is wonderful at her focus issues, but now all those who have tried to copy her have shows doing these things. How about Harrry Connick, Jr. as a host with a focus on current issues with guest appearances by "experts" and with a talent aspect of the show, a little music (not rock but what Harry does, YoYo Ma etc., ... a little more sophisticated tone), good book discussions, etc., & what's happening in the arts. Let's get something different with some innovation that appeals to 30's up that isn't only about families. There is a whole population out here that has opted to live without children and have interests beyond the home. Let's reward those with a broader scope and give opportunities for others to grow in their interests by providing something different that may, in fact, appeal to them.”

Common Sense for the Clean Energy and Climate Debate
Commented Nov 15, 2009 at 21:03:21 in Green
“Anyone viewing the melting of the glaciers and rise in water levels along the coast knows that global warming is NOT a scam. That said, it is time everyone begins to approach our behavior with common sense and care when it comes to the impact on our environment. Remember back in the early 70's when alot of these issues came to a head...energy shortages, clean water, over population, clean atmosphere & impact to the ozone layer. Then, all efforts to affect change came to a halt. Environmentalists were labeled as fanatics by those who were afraid it would impact a "bottom line" and the term (environment) became a "dirty" word to the extent that it is hardly used any more. Do not like those who are politicizing/commercializing "global warming" to the end that it will again create polarization on the issue and our planet and lives will pay for the irresponsibility of those who can't get past their pocket books and look for a new and responsible way to manufacture, create energy, and live responsibly. All new approaches will also create jobs and income, so let's get moving in a new direction and get out of our bad policy ruts.”

You don't think these insurance companies will pull out all of the stops to influence politicians with big contributions to kill the public option in the states? Come on. This stinks.”

“Don't have a problem with entities within the Faux Network offering opinions. Do have a problem with them respresenting false/inaccurate information & intentional misrepresentation of facts as news. For people who don't have the time to check out the reports they hear, they take it as truth. It makes people angry & upset when there is probably nothing to get upset about. It creates hostility within the population and that is dangerous. Having issues with policies within government is not a problem & that is what our whole system is about. This hateful propaganda is something from a place I don't want to be associated with as a citizen of the United States.”

I mean what's with repeatedly pretending (lying) that Mark Foley, Mark Sanford and John Ensign are all Democrats? Do they believe that thinking or saying something often enough will make it true. Do they have so little respect for their audience that they think they will believe anything if they hear it on Fox.. These weasels are really nothing more than juvenile delinquents.”

Commented Oct 25, 2009 at 22:10:05 in Politics
“Mr. C has alot of gall accusing another of "dithering" in Afghanistan when that is precisely what his Admin did from the time they got there. McCain made a slip at one of his town halls during the campaign stating, "I promise we will never again go to war over oil." (The media really gave him a pass on that one.) It was clear from the beginning of both of these occupations, that the 43rd Admin went in for advancement of their economic agenda and passed it off as protecting this country. How many of our military, civilians, and local citizens lost their lives over their bad judgement and dithering?”

Also, we need to make sure that the voters get out in force for the two governor races, VA & NJ. Sometimes we get complacent between national elections and we can no longer do that. Keep up the good work with motivation and appearances / posts. They continue to rally good Americans to action.”

Obama's Nobel Peace Prize: HuffPost Bloggers Weigh In

“Am very disappointed in Americans who feel that our President does not deserve this honor. Some have indicated that the nomination, which came within two weeks of his inauguration, was too soon & that "he hasn't accomplished anything yet." Well, let's acknowlege that this is a "peace prize". This man, an African American, worked and successfully won an election to our nation's highest office in a country with biases that go back a century and a half. He did this by bringing Americans together inspiring hope, a vision for peace and foreign policy through statesmanship, respect for other countries, and a promise to continue to work for the reduction of nuclear weapon proliferation. Internationally he has already inspired more confidence in his vision for world peace and methods to achieve it than the previous Administration that promoted intimidation and threat of military occupation. Quite possibly those who selected our President for this honor feel that President Obama has already succeeded in dialing back the international violence threat level simply by his foreign policy, world vision and ability and incentive to convey it. Congratulations Mr. President !!!”

“How can Americans not be happy that our President was selected for this honor? For those who have denounced this by saying, "What has he done?" Well, I would say he has changed the whole tone of foreign policy substituting statesmanship and respect for the former saber rattling bullies, who felt entitled to run "ruffshod" over any country they felt like to line the pockets of the wealthy including those holding office. I would say the President has done quite alot, and that is just naming one thing including all of the efforts he has put forth to save this country and the world from economic depression.”
