Washington Post: Obama "Helped Fuel" Rumors That He's A Secret Muslim
Commented Apr 07, 2009 at 18:53:06 in Media
“The people who still believe this rumor are not going to be swayed either way by anything Obama says, so complaining about Obama not being a screaming Fundamentalist Christian but instead watching him speak pluralistically about religion and outspoken about secular tolerance reaps far more in the long run both here and abroad than cow-towing to a tiny bunch of superstitious and unintelligent stateside.”

Gates: No Change Coming Soon On "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

“First of all, let's not overreact. React, yes, and let the President know that this is an important issue not just for civil rights but for national security, as he recognized in his position statement during the campaign. But this is an announced intention for a delay, not a betrayal. We can change this.
Secondly, instead of sitting around complaining, do something proactive. If you want change, and want it NOW, say so:
-->Call the White House at (202) 456-1111 or use the web portal at www.whiteh ouse.gov/c ontact to let Obama know you disagree with the delay.
-->Call your congressional representatives at (202) 224-3121 and let them know they need to support this repeal, and not delay.
-->Join with the efforts of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network at www.sldn.o rg.
Thirdly, remember that we elected this President and increased the Democratic majorities in both houses. They work for us, but we have to step up and let them know what we want.”

Lincoln Chafee Interview: "Everyone Was Silent" On Iraq

“Totally agree on that, Hmbl. We won the "war" and are now an occupying force.
But the truth of that--and the implication that it frames the United States as an empire--is just too much for Middle America to handle, even as it presents the conflict in a way that's unwinnable (like the so-called "wars" on drugs or terror). You don't "win" an occupation, so there's no "victory" for them to celebrate, so they sink into denial of the truth.
So sad, and so deadly, as their sons and daughters continue to die.”

“Okay, George: if it's such a great romantic adventure, then how about sending your daughters over there to help create and maintain this beacon of Democracy? And Romney's sons? And the offspring of everyone in Congress.. .”
