Obama, the Fallen Messiah

“Bush piper beat him to it.
We were over the cliff way before Obama took office.
Depending on the cliff, we may never find our way back no matter who is in charge.
It isn't about the right or the left, conservatives or liberals. It's about survival of our nation.
Get real folks.”

“I would say, bottom line, Kerry failed to clearly explain what was going wrong with the Bush Administration and he didn't project the administrative competence that would cause non-ideological independents to abandon W. Kerry was also saddled with his vote for the Iraq war and his campaigning against it. (Or more precisely, its handling, I guess he suggested he would run a better war, but he was short on details. And though the signs were there that the Rumsfeld/Cheney occupation was poorly conceived and terribly executed, I don't think the field commanders understood that until the events of 2005 and 2006 made the problems manifest. In any regards, I don't think Kerry had the imagination to get us out nor the vision to change the course of the occupation .)
And, there was triangulation: for cracking down on terrorists but opposed to the "bad" parts of the Patriot Act. It read as wishy-washy or flip-flopping. Did staying above the swift boat thing in August backfire?
Remember how support for Kerry coalesced over his electability? Yeah, I think the donkey party was suckered by that analysis, which, I gather originated among Kerry's consultants and then was picked up and echoed by the media until it became the common wisdom.
I voted for the guy, but I was disappointed that Dr. Dean got derailed by a holler and the drab Northeastern Standard Liberal got the nomination.”

“FEAR- MONGERING ... the Repubs are masters of drumming up fear of "other" and the Dems were part of the crowd. And, today many of those same voters WISH to God they could have taken THAT vote back! Todays economy, 2 wars, unemployment, etc tend to make people use hind sight and you know what they say ... its 20/20 and clearly shows that Bush/Cheney/Repubs did not have the bulk of Americans interest in mind or at heart! Americans of all stripes voted for the smart Black guy ... at least he speaks to us in complete sentences we can understand.”

“To date the government's handling of the rebuilding of New Orleans speaks volumes... .
This is certainly a shovel ready project in the waiting.
These are some important issues that the government has been working on for years without resolution:
Social Security
Health Care
Living Wage
Immigration
Equal Civil Rights
But the government seems to have resolved the "God" issue. In God we trust.
We certainly don't seem to be able to trust our government to resolve the more important issues for our citizens.
We have one party, the Party of Death, that wants to shrink/starve government so that a particular group of citizens might be able to accumulate ever increasing amounts of wealth at the expense of their fellow citizens.
We have another party that talks the talk but fails to walk the walk.
It's obvious that our current system of government is ineffective. Our nation is doomed if we continue on this road.”

“When it comes to health care it seems to me we should not have to be asking these types of questions.
Simple approach would be when a citizen needs health care it is available to that citizen.
The insurance maze to health care and the obscene profits for insurers are immoral.
Citizens should not be required to die for insurance profits.”

Health Care: Let's Liberate the Masses

“You point out extremely well the Byzantine approach our legislators are taking with health care reform instead of the logical KISS approach.
Our legislators are really showing themselves for who and what they are, a group of self-serving blow-hards and greedy parasites prostituting themselves for their own personal gain with few exceptions.
There can be no other explanation for their failure to resolve the systemic health care problem that exists in this country.
They bring shame on themselves and on this country. By their action or inaction, they demonstrate to the world that we as a country have nothing to offer as an example to the nations of the world.”

“This is a very excellent point!
Also note that the payroll tax rate would would be much lower if there was no cut off for earnings for collecting payroll taxes.
What I'm saying is that ALL payroll earnings should be taxed.
Think of the payroll taxes that would be collected from the corporate executives that are earning millions of dollars in salary compensation.
This would be a piece of cake and would very adequately fund a universal health care system.”

“The simple answer is that it is no longer live in a democracy.
We live in a kleptocracy where "the best and brightest" in both government and the corporate world are working together and stealing both our savings and our self determination.
A good example is health care reform.
It seems to me that 70% of citizens realize that reform is necessary.
In Congress, the Republicans and some Democrats refuse to engage in the process while being PAID by us to engage in resolving important issues.
They are also being paid by corporate lobbyists to act for the corporate interests.
It is being reported that corporate lobbyists wrote the "Baccus bill" that came out of the finance committee.
There doesn't seem to be any other explanation other than we have evolved into a kleptocracy.”

“Let's face it, most of what we consider "news" or "political opinion" programs are nothing more than soap operas to entertain the ignorant masses.
These programs do the bidding of special interests (insurance, pharma, coal, their owners, etc.) to counter any attempts to change the status quo so their earnings do not suffer.
They work against the very interests of every single citizen and against the interests of our nation.
We all rise or we all fall together.
