Why I'm Not Joining the Call to "Kill the Bill"

Commented Dec 25, 2009 at 14:14:04 in Politics

“the answer is in your message

"why are the Dems shying away from this opportunity?"

That's why we have to go with what we have because we cannot trust them to do the right thing.

Cenk Uygur's column yesterday was superb.

In the Spirit of the Season, Please Don't Be a Jerk at the Movies

Commented Dec 22, 2009 at 12:48:09 in Entertainment

“I've severly cut my movie going since that stupid Nat'l Guard trailer started.
Nothing like being propagandized after paying $11 bucks to see something you could enjoy at home for less money (Avatar and similar being exceptions)

Of course, that IS the audience the Guard is hoping to reach.”

ReesieKitty replied on Dec 22, 2009 at 14:33:10

“I hate that trailer too! I actually had a loud discussion about it with my 10 year old son the last time it was showing and explained to him that it was a commercial to glamorize the National Guard and make it look like it was the same thing as being in a 'cool' action movie. Then I told him how important serving in the Guard could be, but that if it was something you decided to do, you shouldn't be tricked into it with a commercial. Normally I zip my lip completely when the trailers start, but in this case I didn't really care if I was talking over it.”

President Obama Loses His Base: He Just Ran Out of Slack

Commented Dec 18, 2009 at 16:09:53 in Politics

“Most people in this country couldn't tell a bill from a hole in the ground,

Blame the dumbing down of America. But that's no reason for the senate to lead Americans on.
We may not completely understand the process but we're learning to recognize complete BS when we see it,”

“He pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse, a charge which is synonymous under Californian law with statutory rape (wikipedia)

A grand jury charged him with rape by use of drugs, perversion, sodomy, lewd and lascivious act upon a child under fourteen, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.[also wikipedia)

But since he didn't "confess" to it, guess the charges just aren't even worth mentioning.”

Who Owns Congress?

Commented Sep 26, 2009 at 10:03:57 in Politics

“and what do we do, Bernie? Write to the Supreme Court? We can't influence them so whatever they decide is law. The court has been stacked in favor of this...that is why Roberts, Scalia and Alito are THERE.

They can kill public funding for another generation and then what do we do?”

ron071 replied on Sep 26, 2009 at 11:05:05

“There is no longer any doubt about who has the absolute power to control our goverrnment and it is NOT the voters. The obscene fact is that the big corporations and their lobbyists control our government. Their money has totally corrupted our democracy and will continue to do so until ALL elected representative are mandated to accept NO money from any source other than a set government and media regimen contribution of time and money. ALL corporate money must be banned from corrupting those who are supposed to represent us. To do less is to relegate us to third world standards which is NOT a democracy in other than name. We are not curbing freedom of speech but freedom of control of government and restoring it to the people. There is no other way to restore control of government to the people. The evidence is abundant and everywhere to be seen.”
