“So. Why would I care? The article is called "10 Vintage Styles That Really Need To Come Back," not "SSwamy hates wearing hats, gloves and scarves 12 months of the year."”
SSwamy on Dec 10, 2013 at 10:50:50
“I don't understand your point. I was commenting on the article that said hats, gloves and scarves should be brought back and I did not like those. Why is this an issue? Can one not have a contrary point of view? You like to wear hats, scarves and gloves, go ahead.”
“What are you talking about? My sister has a shaved hair-cut and wears "manly" clothing and she has a husband and children. Heck, I have gay women friends who dress more "girly" than me - and I'm not gay. Read a book or something.”
“I support welfare, free healthcare, etc. Who's making assumptions now? I just don't support paying someone excessive money for a low-skilled and low-responsibility position. That's one of the many things wrong with our country. Hardly anyone complains about the teachers, the policemen, the garbage men when it comes to their low salaries, but nobody sees anything wrong with paying $15 for a burger-flipper.”
intellifran on Dec 9, 2013 at 17:56:26
“It's not excessive! Stop saying that. Who are YOU to determine the worth of others. Anyone willing to work should at least make the minimum required to support themselves ie with food, shelter, utilities, and transportation. Current minimum wage does not allow these things. Sorry but an apartment and food are NOT luxuries.”
“And again, what I said that ANYONE who thinks they should be paid $15 for flipping burgers does not aspire to be more, not everyone that is paid minimum wage. But again...if your dream was not to flip burgers for a living, you would know that.”
“Good guess, but by not answering my question, I'm assuming yes. I would suggest going for a manger position, but at would require hard work from you.”
edorod77 on Dec 8, 2013 at 13:06:15
“Well you know what they say about assuming? Your jokes are horrible. Your family is going to starve with material like this. If you take your show on the road, you are going to need the job at Burger King. Then you can take your own suggestion. Hey, consider your plan for the future.”
“I didn't say they were lazy, I said that they don't aspire to be anything more if they felt they should be pay $15 for flipping burgers. Also, I handled over 30 thousand daily and still made less than $15. Here is some advice: stop googling and actually get some life experience so you won't sound ignorant. Second, you really think that a burger flipper should be paid more than a person who handles ANY amount of money on a daily basis?”
Nick Kelsier on Dec 8, 2013 at 13:14:32
“but I do love your nitwitted assumption that bank tellers will somehow suffer if the minimum wage is raised. Wow, the right wing really brainwashed you into thinking that your own fellow workers are the enemy haven't they.”
Nick Kelsier on Dec 8, 2013 at 13:12:11
“so perhaps you should start asking yourself this question.
1: Why do you assume that just because people want the minimum wage to be $15 that means that burger flippers should make more then tellers?
2: Why do you think tellers should make less than $15
3: Why do you want people to be stuck on welfare because the minimum wage is currently so damn low that it's impossible to live on it without welfare.
4: If companies can afford to pay their top executives so damn much and give them so many damn raises..why can't those same companies do the same for the rest of their employees? Case in point..you really think mcDonald's can afford to triple it's CEO's salary but not pay its workers more?”
Nick Kelsier on Dec 8, 2013 at 13:03:05
“.,...right. Because somehow you're Ms. Cleo and you can read their minds.
Sorry, the average of a person on minimum wage is 28 and quite a few of them have college degrees.
As for your last question..no. But they should be paid enough so if they're working they don't need welfare.
Sorry, the one without life experience is you little child. Because you live in a fantasy world in which you somehow know that anyone who makes minimum wage never aspires to be more.”
“oh in other words you were dealing with rather small amounts of money. see you said "huge sums" of money so I thought you were higher up.
Considering most people on minimum wage aren't 1: educationally deficient and 2: lazy and 3: teens...you may want to rethink your position.
But yeah when you have to work more then one job just to pay the bills and not even get ahead..yeah you really don't have time to learn better skills or apply yourself...because you're too busy trying to survive. There is no state in this country in which a person making minimum wage and working 40 hours can afford an apartment without help.
So why don't stop making arrogant assumptions, especially since most of the western world has higher minimum wages then us.”
“Yeah - except the fact that I have actually WORKED as a teller and they pay less than that. Entry Loan Officers actually START at $15. Sorry, but actual life experience trumps Google every time. You would know that if you didn't live your life through a computer.”
“Look...I got better things to do than argue with a republican.”
Steven Hunter on Dec 7, 2013 at 11:08:21
“I'm not a Republican or even a conservative. And you're not arguing with me. You're presenting demonstrable falsehoods about the position of this Pope, and I'm correcting you. I don't have to agree with the Pope in order to accurately understand his position.”
“No...Pope Francis has actually went AGANIST the church, saying that they're too concern with homosexuality and should love all people, period. Seriously, go read a newspaper or something.”
Steven Hunter on Dec 7, 2013 at 11:00:07
“For crying out loud! One doesn't need to read the newspaper when one reads the actual documents issued by the Vatican. What the Pope has done is to broaden the Church's focus to include many other issues, but in "Evangelii Gaudium" he emphatically reaffirms the Church's position on both abortion and homosexuality. Clearly, you know nothing about either Catholicism or this Pope, so stop trying to comment on the matter. You look foolish.”
“Ummm...you do realize that Stewart was talking about two different people? Benedict was the one who had issues with abortion and homosexuality - Francis does not. So...yeah...”
Steven Hunter on Dec 7, 2013 at 10:31:33
“What? Oh, you must be one of those people who, only paying attention to the religiously illiterate oafs in the media, believes that Pope Francis has somehow changed the Church's positions on abortion and homosexuality. The truth, of course, is that he not only didn't change them -- he has reaffirmed and strengthened them! There is a long history of Roman pontiffs who've been critical of capitalism and have called for economic fairness and justice. It isn't my fault that neither you nor apparently Jon Stewart is aware of that.”
“Sorry, but there are actual people who work in banks (dealing with HUGE sums of money on a daily basis and strangers’ finances) and THEY don't get paid $15 an hour - they get paid less. Seriously - you think someone whose only aspiration in life is to flip burgers deserves to be pay more than those people? Besides - if they do raise the minimum wage, all that means is that the cost of living will go up. In a few years - making $15 an hour will be just like making $7.25 an hour - and burger flippers will be striking for $30 an hour, rather than actually applying themselves and striving to be more than just people who flips burgers and send Americans to an early grave with artery clogging garbage.”
Nick Kelsier on Dec 9, 2013 at 15:02:30
“tell you what..if you want to object to raising the minimum wage...then you agree to never kvetch about the amount we spend on welfare”
CognitoErgoSum on Dec 7, 2013 at 21:48:16
“The actual people working at banks would also see their wages rise to the level of the minimum wage. The minum wage laws don't just apply to fast food workers.”
Nick Kelsier on Dec 7, 2013 at 15:36:38
“let us know when you figure out the stupid assumptions in your statement.
because funny...my mom did that at a bank...and got a hell of a lot more than 15 an hour”
saunee300 on Dec 7, 2013 at 14:18:56
“because someone handled large sums of money they deserve more? go figure?!..and please stop making fun of that large segment of the population that has to flip burgers as you call it!......what makes you think that working in the bank is so much more important in the large picture of life?! pretty darn arrogant of you! typical whiner.”
kareemachan on Dec 7, 2013 at 13:27:49
“Citation, bc. Because a few seconds on google got me information that the average salary for entry-level bank job is above $15/hr, and remember in THAT job, they have a very good chance to get promoted.
Failure, and thanks for flaunting the same ol' tired memes.”
edorod77 on Dec 7, 2013 at 13:23:57
“Well than, maybe these bankers, whom I don't feel sorry for at all, should think about flipping burgers instead of working for the very same banks that bankrupted our country and foreclosed on millions of homes. Minimum wage has NEVER kept up with inflation. Your numbers are ridiculous. People take these jobs, because maybe you forgot, their are no jobs. If they didn't work here, you would complain about them being on welfare. You just can't win. But never the less, feel good in knowing that you can still feel superior to these people because they only flip burgers for a living. God bless America? With people like you, why should he?”
