“I have lived all over this United States. I prefer vegas to ALOT of them. We live very well out here. If I miss Cali, then a 3 hour ride and I am there. So unless you live here and don't understand then enjoy where you live and leave Vegas alone.Oh by the way those OTHER cities were, L.A,Virginia,D.C, Atlanta,Florida,Texas and Ilinois.QuaLITY OF LIFE IS ALOT BETTER THAN YOU THINK OUT HERE.”

“I have lived in Vegas off and on for 6 years. It really is a dump and as a previous poster said, a poorly planned assortment of strip malls and apartment complexes. There is no sense of community here. Anything close to it is in the extremely artificial (and highly gated) Summerlin area.”

I am a small business owner 2x times over. But our profits are not sky rocketing like the big businesses are. And some of my small business owners here in Vegas are struggling also. To us it seems that if we do it the right way, then we're screwed,BUT if we cheat the system then BAM!! We all could accelerate our profits. The only businesses doing well are the banks and insurance companies. That is it,and trust me you can't get a loan from a bank today. We have tried at 10 times already.”

“Sorry this is not a Civil Rights issue!! Please stop comparing it to my peoples struggle for equality! You are literally about to get every thing you want and ask for from this president. Where was all this venom when the Bush's and Reagan' abandoned you. Now you really expect this president who has only been in office for 10 months to bend to your time table. Get real!!!!!! This is the reason a divide is among African Americans and the gay community. Trust me it is very real, because I am an african american and I do not understand what more you want. Its legislation its the law. It takes TIME. DAMN stop crying like little 3 year old and go on with your lives,we have and see what happens when you do your part.Things happen. Truth be told it took us(African americans) over 100 years to get our justice and STILL to this day we do not have it. So your post makes no sense to me at all. Your struggle is and will not be our struggle. I can not hide being black. But I betcha I could hide being gay! SIMPLE AS IT SOUNDS BUT ITS TRUE for lack of a better word.”

“I'm sorry - saying "I cannot hide being Black, but I could hide being gay" is a bit like saying "but I could hide being Jewish".
The question of homosexuality in politics goes back long before Stonewall - could you, perhaps, be courteous enough to your fellow human beings to gain an understanding of the two hundred years of gays being thrown in jail under sodomy laws or being beaten or killed for being gay - or being perceived to be gay - before dismissing what LGBTs have to say?”

“Corretta Scott King held a different view from yours. She said:
"Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood."
And
"I still hear people say that I should not be talking about the rights of lesbian and gay people. ... But I hasten to remind them that Martin Luther King Jr. said, 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.' I appeal to everyone who believes in Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream, to make room at the table of brotherhood and sisterhood for lesbian and gay people."”

“I too am African American and I'm not a member of the LGBT community. But I am offended by your implied suggestions that you can speak for all of us and that some folks should have to wait longer than others for the rights and respect all human beings deserve. The hatred and bigotry are the real reason there is "a divide" (as you call it) between the African American community and the gay community. Many in the African American community are extremely homophobic and many in the LBGT community are extremely racist. In reality, the LBGT community encompasses many African Americans and the African American community encompasses many LBGT persons. The venom you accuse other of spewing is reflected in your own comments. Check your isms at the door before entering conversations about human rights - yours or those of others.”

“Huff Po not liking my post now/ Lets try this again. You are missing the point entirely From where I am sitting, the Gay community is upset with Mr Obama. Why? Why are they upset? We as Americans are all struggling right now and if we are not then we know someone who is.But to push Mr Obama in the direction for you own agenda seems selfish.Lets get heatlhcare, oohh my bad we can't even get together on that either. Mr Obama is never going to satisfy us liberals.Because we expect to much too soon. This is still Washington and its still politics.African Americans still has a bill that comes up EVERY four years saying in effect if we can vote or not!! Hello 2009. it all is going to take time.”

“Why should any group or individual have to wait for equal rights?
I want my things to come first, and so I march for them. The GLBT want their issues first just like the unions want their issues first, and the African American groups want their issues first, and the environmentalists, yada yada. We march to show how important something is for us - like for me, it's weed. But I should wait to be free, because you want some contrived slop of a health care bill first? Will your march have more people than the tea baggers?
That's the only measure for the leaders to determine if they should put your thing first.”

“Wanting rights and protections that everyone else has should never take a back seat to anything. These are fundamental. Don't characterize the whole gay community as upset with Obama just because a minority share may be. Some may be upset (I'm not) but they also support him without hesitation. If you sit in blogs all day you will get the contrary and negative attacks ad nauseam, but when you speak to real humans you sense the sigh of relief that a wonderful person is in the White House and progress is trudging forward.”
