“I guess the 22 million jobs Clinton policies created were fictional and a as I recall a Republican lead congress was happy toe vote for bad trade legislation in fact sponsored just about all of it, including the elimination of the separation between commercial and investment banks which put deposits at risk. You can call it liberal if you want, in fact your partially right, "supply side" is direct descendent of Milton Friedman's neo-liberal economic theories based on a utopian world economy, which has been embraced by conservatives for last 90 years, Reagan loved it so much he used it as the bases for Supply Side Raganomics.
One more thing Neo-conservativiism is direct decendent of the neo-liberalism of the 1960s, prominate neo-conservatives today were neo-liberals in the 60's or there decendendednts, Bill Kristol's daddy was true life communist and proud of it, Michael Savage whiner was a leftist hippy, who wanted to be the next Lenny Bruce, but lacked the talent, there are many others who enjoy FOX favorite pundint status, who are former communist, lieftist, even a former black panther member and a communist. I think there professional radicals who never got over the glory days of the 60's and just changed sides.
lovesds, if your a true conservative and care about the GOP the so-called RINO's aren't your problem, it's neo-liberal former communist and the theocrats pretending to be conservatives, who are taking this country down.”

The Great Depression gave rise to the Nazi and Fascist parties in Europe, militarism in Japan, yet they believe to this day that FDR should have did nothing and it all would have worked out. FDR saved there precious capitalism and prepared this country for an impending world war, which the right wing thought we could sit out until Japanese war planes laid it on our door steep.”

I agree the difference is Governor-Elect Christie won't be vilified for it and called a socialist and a tyrant, Obama will, the right wing is vested in his failure. Right-wing media and politicians will praise Christie and tear Obama apart, and there lies the problem with American politics today, rapid division trumps everything.”

Great point, considering if the Bush administration hadn't destroyed FEMA, which became a truly competent organization during the Clinton era and Secretary Wit, or if National Guard troops and there equipment weren't tied up in Iraq, or if HLS had propositioned military assets a head of the storm etc. some of those lives would have been saved. “That's funny because small business suffered under Bush 41 and 43n and prospered under Clinton. All business suffered under Reagan, "down sizing" was the phase that defined the 80's and companies down sized, because conservative administrations talk about small government but exploded it, there neo-liberal business approach never came close to the economic prosperity that was achieved in the 90's under Bill Clinton. Now Republicans are saying they lost there way under George Bush, yet Ronald Reagan lorded over big deficits, big government, tax increases and 2 major recessions, an historical fact.
Hoover a Republican is blamed for causing the Great Depression yet, when Hoover applied conservative principles, trying to address in spending leading to the market crash of 1929, and those same principles locked the country in the worse economic disaster ever, The right wing don't like to talk about Hoover's 2 Republican predecessors, who's policies set the stage for the Great Depression, policies that bear an creepy similarity to what translated under George Bush.”

“The stock market crash occurred due to speculation. A bubble. The depression followed because of a contraction in the money supply. Hoovers solution to the economy after the crash was to increase government spending. FDR opposed that idea during the campaign. . After he was elected, FDR embraced the idea of excess government spending. He kept it up until 1937 when the deficit began having a negative impact on the economy so he slowed down Government growth. The War ended the depression, not economic policies.”

“Katrina was easy compared to the complexity of the economic disaster, if President Obama declares an economic national emergency, like Governor elect Christie is planning to do in my own state, the right wing media machine will be all over him. If Obama did what German Chancellor Andrea Merkel did in 2007 to provide a social safety net so Germans could come out of the down turn with at least a roof over there heads, Obama would ridiculed beyond belief, it's a lose, lose for him, because the right wing isn't vested in the success of the nation.
FDR did more than any other president for average Americans ravaged by the Depression, which neo-liberal Republican policies set in motion, than any other president. The prosperity of the 1950s wasn't possible without the New Deal reforms, yet the conservative elite, to this day ridicule FDR, a beloved 4 term president, who followed 3 hated 1 term Republican presidents. Bush's own grandfather took part in a movement called the Liberty League a group of bankers, industrialist and right wing politicians, who planned a military over-though FDR in 1933.
I believe Obama needs to stop playing by-partisan nice guy, it's not working, the unemployment could end tomorrow and the right wing would find another reason to attack Obama as they attacked Bill Clinton in the late 90's, a president with a 70% job approval and the best peace time economy ever, yet Republicans hunted him, like rabid dogs.”

“Although Beck was weird on CNN, he wasn't anything near as weird as he is now, CNN's more main stream audience didn't really flock to his style and his ratings were poor, now he's a huge success with FOX's audience, which I think is less educated and as weird as Beck pretends to be, yes pretends. I don't believe for a NY minute that when Beck goes home at the end of the day he's that crazy, so it's scary to me there's an audience that is as nuts as Beck's act.

He makes controversial statements like his r a c is m comment, than retracts it with his next breath, he uses the term "some people" as Wolf dose, all the time, a broadcast phase, which is common on CNN, translation no one really cares, fake controversy. On FOX he blurs into one gimmick after the other, with little substance behind his words. I don't believe he's dangerous by himself, what's makes him dangerous is the goof balls who actually take this former FM shock jock seriously.”

“Your absolutely right, Mikhail Gorbachev was the 1st Soviet leader, who understood the realities of the day, he didn't only risk his political career, which ended when the Soviet Union devolved, he risked military over through, he risked it all. Although Ronald Reagan played his part in ending the Cold War, Bush 41 and Jim Baker did the hard work of diplomacy that opened the door. The Berlin Wall finally came down during Bush 41's Presidency. Bush 41 would not go to Germany and make speeches at the Wall because he didn't want to empower the hard liners in the Soviet Union. What puzzles me is why Republicans never give Bush 41 the credit he deserves, thieve turned Reagan into some kind of cartoon icon, which even his son Ron Reagan is uncomfortable with.”

People tend to live outside of their means. If you can barely pay your mortgage payments that you can't even adjust to an increase in property taxes, you're living outside of your means. Of course, not to mention extravagant spending, like the flat screen TVs you mentioned. If you have the kind of discretionary income, go ahead.
And if you're sick... well, then you're pretty much doomed either way -- with or without your dream home... so that point is moot.”
