“congresspeople have a special telephone number to call with their problems [the SECRET NUMBER...] They are NEVER puyt on hold, always responded to, and ALWAYS get their way. BCBS knows better. That's why we can't get reform. Congress assumes everyone gets what the get. I dare congresspeople to call the telephone number I call THEMSELVES: if an employee does it for them, well it's an illegal payment to them and 20 years in prison. They should especially do it dring an emergency while their children are dying. Then, and only then wil the have even an inkling of what the rest of us go through. It should be put on TV and if they get special treatment, well 20 years in prison.
Or, they can go down to the local emergency room in DC without congressional ID and try to get help. Special treatment: 20 years in prison. etc. etc. There would be reform in seconds.100-0 in the senate and 435-0 in the house.
So, next time you have a BCBS problem, call your rep or senator and ask for the SECRET NUMBER.”

“He said that the cost curve must be bent. Just how does that happen without any competition? We were sold out just as Obama sold out his principles.”

grandtrunk road replied on Dec 15, 2009 at 10:24:23

“I am not defending the Prez. Talking about bending the cost curve and specifically calling for a PO are not the same thing. The specific was never there. The lesson learned should be that nothing this Prez says should be taken at face value.”

Don't kid ourselves. We effectively do not live in a democracy, if we ever did.

Commented Dec 11, 2009 at 15:30:36 in Politics

“Our "leaders" already have gold-plated, lifetime-renewable, relatively low-cost all-inclusive insurance. They have no incentive to do anything. How about we make them buy individual policies for them and their little darlings, spouses and mistresses/gigalos and see what happens then.”

masher replied on Dec 11, 2009 at 14:10:10

“Exactly. The clearest sign that the Democratic party only wants the appearance of change is that they failed to rescind the anti-trust exemption.

In a way the rethugs were correct. The Dems should have started over and just done a few simple things that everyone can understand. (Of course the Rethugs weren't being honest. They want corporate welfare just as much as Obama does.)”

Strong Clerical Support for a Woman's Right to Choose Does Exist

Commented Dec 08, 2009 at 12:07:56 in Politics

“it's about time pro-choice churches spoke up. The silence has been deafening. Same with Same-sex marriage. The Right has portraid all "christians" as being anti-choice and homophobic. Of course this is not true. If you spoke up more often, then perhaps people would realize that being anti-choice and homophobic IS the non-Christian belief.”

VeryFairMOR replied on Dec 08, 2009 at 15:11:31

How Do I Make My Marriage Last?

Commented Dec 06, 2009 at 10:49:17 in Living

“according to the majority of Americans, the number 1 way to make your marriage last is to ban same-sex marriage.

However, the truth of the matter is to move to Massachussetts and behave like your neighbors who recognize same-sex marriage. If you currentl;y live in the "god" states you you probably be divorced as soon as you read this.”

“Alaska is so socialist that Socialist blush. They tax the oil companies like their is no tomorrow and rebate dividends to their citizens. [Louisiana that "conservative state, also does that.] The rest of the Alaska budget is provided by federal government handouts. Maybe Palin and her "anti-socialist" successors should ban that practice outright. Just hypocrites, and laughing all the way to the bank.
Just look at who is calling whom a commie. Sarah and Todd and the "abstinence" daughter and even the naked "son-in-law" all get the gravy. Liars, hypocrites, all.”

Christian Leaders Scapegoat Gays on Marriage

Commented Nov 25, 2009 at 13:33:32 in Politics

“I am almost willing to give up on same-sex marriage as long as we follow the supposed "biblical traditions":

1. no divorce ever for any reason or death by stoning. [make this retroactive]

2. if no baby produced within let's say 2 years, marriage declared invalid, All benefits returned to state. And, you must impregnate your slaves to get a child [see Abraham]. Of course the other [multiple] wives are still valid.

Of course this means we need to go back to allowing slavery too, else how could you copulate with your slave?

As you can see, these people pick and choose what they want, and give excuses that they would never apply to themselves, banning or un-banning along the way the inconvenient truths of the past. Quite franky, Anyway, Jesus would be shocked today because most marriages don't have the pre-nuptual ritual bath. Better have your excuses ready when asked on Judgement Day.”

daffey replied on Nov 25, 2009 at 14:49:02
