“"The uninsured turn to charity." The truth is that it is the unisured WHO OWN nothing can turn to charity. If you own a home and try to get health care without insurance the doctor, clinic or hospital will file a lien on your property and take it from you. So, the middle class is currently "stuck." Either pay the outrageous premiums demanded from the for profit insurance companies or risk getting sick or injured and losing their home. Nice choice, huh? Yet the gops continue to obstruct on any kind of real reform. Geez.”

“It's the same for Medicaid. I'm going to lose my job within the next 8 months and the only income we'll have will be my husband's social security. He's on Medicare and our income would come within Medicaid levels for me but we'd have to exhaust every dime we've saved for retirement. I can't do that to him so I'll be one of the uninsured.”

“Yup. I have friends and family who have those liens on their homes. And they have health insurance! Some of them have even had to legally separate from their spouses in order to qualify for medicare.

The women who depended completely on their husbands down through the years for emotional and financial support as well as yard work and home repairs just fell apart upon the losses. The women who had other interests separate from their husbands, managed their own money and career choices, got along quiet well despite the loss.”

I love not having to make any compromises, having time to contemplate, taking time to smell the roses and do whatever I want, when I want. Many of my female friends have expressed admiration for how much I have pared down and simplified my life! At times in my life I was a successful career woman, a wife and a mother. But, I am definitely much happier without the stress that all of those jobs brought into my life. You are right, too, happiness is in the eye of the beholder.”

“Show up at presidential public events? Like when? W never had any, and all possible sightings of protest were completely removed to several blocks out of view. He never spoke unless it was a preselected, hand picked audience of supporters. These people shouldn't even begin to pretend they have a leg to stand on here. I'm still waiting for their "free speech zones" to be enacted on them.”
