“Oh, give me a break! St. Jack of Layton pretty much lifted most of the key part of those 'last words' from Paul Kurtz' Affirmation of Humanism which have been around for a couple of decades.
"We believe in optimism rather than pessimism, hope rather than despair, learning in the place of dogma, truth instead of ignorance, joy rather than guilt or sin, tolerance in the place of fear, love instead of hatred, compassion over selfishness, beauty instead of ugliness, and reason rather than blind faith or irrationality."
Sound familiar? I pointed this out to various media outlets when they were gushing over his last letter, but NONE cared to point this 'coincidence' out.

“A peek at the royal skirt isn't much, really... her entire skirt went up in Edmonton (or Calgary?) when she was here (even if most outlets didn't publish the pix), and we've all seen her naked in those paparazzi shots...”

“I've been an atheist since I was eleven, but I enjoy the Xmas season, seeing friends and especially kids caught up in the spirit of the season (as long as they don't stupidly max out their credit cards). I spend December singing/humming Christmas carols without realizing it, and so on.
I don't want government to over-emphasize it at the expense of other religions or those who have no religion, but mentioning it? putting up a Christmas tree at City Hall? sure, why not? Just don't say no if a Menorah is put up too, or something for Eid.”

“Your on the right track as to who stole Christmas. Even though it's 50% of yearly sales.”

“There's nothing wrong with the Lord's prayer, FOR CHRISTIANS. For the rest of us, it's a ridiculous bunch of words directed at a non-existent being. And as for 'dictating' what others can do, it's the Christians who are dictating - 'we shall have OUR prayer, and the rest of you can stuff it'.”
“I knew 'didactic' and 'verisimilitude' but haven't used them in years. The others on that list I consider to be 'regular' words that everyone should know and use when appropriate (and not over-use just to sound 'fancy').”
“The USA is NOT the wealthiest nation in the world under any reasonable standard. Its median income levels are well below at least 10 others. Sure, if you add up all the billionaires billions and the fact it has 300 million people (3rd in the world after India and China), there are probably more $$ in the country. However, subtract debt... and more appropriately, make it per capita, and the US isn't even close to #1.”

“I'm no fan of Harper, but this is unfair. In his role as PM, having a sip of wine or a beer (as PM or as a campaigner) is perfectly normal. A non-drinker is typically described as someone who has 5 or fewer drinks a year. I am one, can't remember the last time I drank alcohol, but if was somewhere and the host handed me a beer, I'd drink at least half of it out of courtesy. (a non-drinker is different than a teetotaler.)”

“Bologne is right, Harper didn't say this. Huffs made it up, it appears.
(Bologne & I would together would make one weird meal)”

“The con definition of non-drinker? I think the real world has a different definition.”

“Oh, so lying is okay if you are a PM? wow.. he's been on record as drinking alcohol, yet he claims he doesn't.. yah, ethics 101 failure ...”

“that he drinks is not the problem, it is the lying.”

“Oh come on. I believe the vast majority of Canadians - and almost anyone else in any country - would help if they noticed that person had a problem. What this guy was (besides kind) was observant; he spotted the problem when many wouldn't have.”
“Nonsense! (thus proving your theory) I decline to believe in any god or supernatural entity because there has been NO evidence of same; saying one should be agnostic because one is not sure is the same as saying "well, I'm not sure there aren't 4 dancing hippos on my desk."
Being intelligent, if some good evidence is provided, I will reconsider my position.”

“You are the one talking nonsense, U can decline all what you want, but just answer this one question, who created the all first move that started it all, that small particle, out which it all began. Nothing start out of nothing.”
