Ketsana: Philippine Typhoon Leaves 72 Dead And Missing

Commented Sep 27, 2009 at 12:40:54 in World

“Not today, indeed, not today--with government officials' raison d' etre is to line up their pockets with the taxpayers' money--and to hell with the people. The present state of affairs there makes me vomit. The Calamity Fund has been sucked up dry by Arroyo et al. No wonder the rescue efforts were tentative at best. I would enjoin those who are inclined, to send their donations to the Red Cross, or to a Non-Government Organization--never to the government. Hopefully, with Noynoy Aquino as president next year, the Philippines will recoup all that it has lost.”

justitia replied on Sep 27, 2009 at 16:32:10

“I agree strongly about the corruption. It is so entrenched that I doubt if Noynoy Aquino can change that. Her late mother and former President too had all the right motives and herself was not corrupt. She even led a relatively simple life. But she was powerless to stop the corruption and failed to institute basic social reforms that would have provided the basis for sustained economic development. What I hope from Noynoy or anyone who becomes the next President is at least to bring Arroyo and her ilk to justice without hope of pardon.”

And I hope that her efforts are not too late, considering what Soros and Volcker have posited, i.e., that the world is now at a depression bigger than the one in 1929.”

The package, as presently constituted, does not have the wherewithtal for entrepeneurs, who are the backbone of any economy, and who hire the workers. Therefore, the extant bill must be voted down, else amended to whittle down entitlement programs and go full throttle on small and medium-scale entrepreneurship.”

In short, this calls for a paradigm shift, i.e. NATIONALIZATION of banks.”
