“Bingo! I've been a fan of little to no shoes my whole life. I was wearing "proper" shoes for walking and after about and hour my achilles tendons and ankles were screaming. Since wearing Vibrams not a problem.”

“Awww, reminds me a lot of my kitten, about the same age, that I rescued from an abandoned lot across the street. She was malnourished as well, although older and not nearly as small, dirty, had a bad scratch on her eye. After treatment and filling out she looks an awful lot like Stuart, white, but with a calico tail and only a couple of tiny orange smudges on her head. She's currently scampering around the floor and swatting the dog on the nose.”

“As Karen K first stated, a lot is shared by people with ADHD. ADHD is a neurological "disorder" and as such we tend to be wired a bit differently. Quite possibly people who are highly sensitive may well be wired a bit differently without necessarily having ADHD.”

“Funny, I was thinking this, as I have ADHD and many of the descriptions fit me, although I just think of it as having ADHD and not necessarily being "highly sensitive."”

Jonathan Cairo Ender on Mar 10, 2014 at 17:24:00

“I'm in the same boat as you as an adult with ADHD. I merely was self-aware as being a highly sensitive person, not knowing people are actually diagnosed/classified as being "highly sensitive." I also agree that many with ADD/ADHD may fall into this category, but not everyone. It's also certainly possible to be "highly sensitive" and not be ADD/ADHD as well, but there's definitely a strong correlation in my opinion based on my own opinion, but also having worked with multiple kids with ADD/ADHD as an educator.”

“BlackCat: You are more than likely, ensitive. It's a curse, but it's also an affirmation of being human. I'm a two hundred pound man, but I like myself for being sensitive.”

“I would also advise getting heavy curtains and making sure windows and doors are properly sealed. Our house is new (3yo) and when building my husband paid extra attention to insulation, reducing the number of windows, making sure that they sealed properly, etc.

It's funny, just yesterday we had an HVAC guy over working on something else and when he was in the house he actually commented on our thermostat setting. We usually keep it between 66-68, depending. A lot of people crank theirs up to about 75 (they call that gringo temperature) and still complain that they're cold. If you own, it's worth paying to have your house properly insulated, as it'll pay for itself with lower heating and cooling.”
