“No, it is not.
We cannot produce as much as we consume, even if we drilled everywhere, and pumped it all out as fast as we could, leaving nothing for the future.
We are dependent because the oil boys keep it that way. Renewables are the way to independence, not fossil fuels.”

“A "green job" is a job within the "green economy" which is that segment or sector involved with environmental issues-specifically, mitigating the negative effects of human activity. Take the example of bio fuels, which oil companies ARE nicely positioned to exploit, because they have lots of gas stations. Add an electrical recharging unit- the gas station works for electrics. Oil companies have infrastructure that can be repurposed for renewables. They also have investments in many biofuel operations.

“I wonder about that also.
Maybe the proposed Texas range was too hot and barren, in comparison with the northern range.
It's a huge responsibility, and if the grazing were insufficient, it would be a giant task to provide hay, water, and nutrition.
I would love to help manage something like that, and I bet there are a heck of a lot of out-of-work cowboys that would love it too.”

“Many of the wild horses are in UT, NV, and ID. Most reside in parts of the great basin, hotter and more barren than most of TX, and much colder in the winter.”

“Non-native species = invasive.
300-500 year resident non-native species = what? Naturalized ?
Ordinary labels don't serve this unique population very well.
They have certainly adapted over scores of generations to their current range.
Horse experts are by definition horse lovers, and the experts I know would say that only 1 mustang in 30 (+/ 10) are suitable for domestic use - as riding horses.
The rest , I have learned to consider as wildlife, and I weep for the the fate of all wildlife in America.
Mrs. Boone is really trying.
There are no easy answers, and no pat answers.
Kudos to everyone who gives this very difficult issue some real thought.
Infinite kudos to anyone with the guts to act in the true best interets of the Mustangs.”

“Music is the NOT the problem. This band is AWESOME, the Dixie/Battlehymn medley is stirring and excellent. The kids add their own words - so what? It's art. It's fun.
The fact is that the South has still not truly recovered from the Civil War, and it probably never will. Come On ! It took 100 years just to get full voting Rights, following reconstruction. Obviously, the war caused problems that have taken many generations to correct. It's still not done.
Maybe war is a little more complicated than we have been led to believe?
Maybe the effects of total destruction reverberate decades, generations after the final battle?
DId anyone think that after Appomatox, everything just went back to normal?
I hope the South does rise again, out of its ignorance and racism. But the South does have a very large number of very good people, and Southern Hospitality is a real part of the culture (for most).
The University of Texas fight song has a "special" ending that the students have added and sung for years. It was great to see UT in the Rose Bowl a few years back, and the whole country heard the very vulgar custom student edition.
Let the kids have their fun, it hurts no one.
The silly pukes in the klan are a disgrace to humanity. I bet the Ole Miss kids will pelt them with eggs and insults, which is entirely proper and correcft.”

But if those profits continue to accrue to overseas entities,
then the US middle class will continue to shrink, wither, and disappear.
The rich and the poor are eternal and universal.
The US wealthy have sold out the US middle class, looking and finding a quicker buck off the backs of China's poor.
The rich are still rich, the poor are still poor, but the middle is looking down rather than up.”

“We have already been left behind, I assert with remorse.
A year ago, I thought we could kill a number of birds with one stone: create lots of small local organizations retrofitting homes and businesses with wind and solar power.
Put people to work, develop new industry, stimulate US manufacturing, reduce pollution, and reduce the energy bills for millions of Americans. It still sounds cool. Then, reality hit, when I started researching costs for small scale green energy projects.
The Chinese are already way, way ahead of us.
They are mass producing dirt cheap household solar water heaters, undercutting US manufactured products by about 80%. This is not an exagerration.
China just got a huge windfarm contract on the US East Coast. $50 million that could have created US jobs and infrastructure- outsourced to the foreign low bidder. This money would have kept US people in their homes, shored up US banks, stimulated local ecoonomies in the US. But, in the short run, the Chinese provide more bang for the buck.
THIS IS THE PROBLEM !
The US economy is being led and driven by short term thinkers.
We lusted for the massive Chinese market, and they turned the tables on us.
If more Americans knew the 5000 year old Chinese board game of GO, we would have seen it coming and countered.
But Americans thought we were so "exceptional" that we would always win.
So we lost.”

“This girl exhibits textbook sociopathic/ psychopathic behavior.
This condition is not curable.
It is often caused by seperation from a caregiver at an early age.
This seperation could be physical (abandonment) or emotional ( abuse).
As a parent, I have seen kids like this, and they scare the crap out of me.
Many sociopaths learn what is expected of them over time, and so learn how to pass as normal within society, but they remain extremely dangerous due to an utter lack of empathy or conscience.
They cannot be taught how to care about the feelings of others, but they can be taught that they are expected to demonstrate or pretend that they care, and this is why they are too often released from custody after committing crimes as children.
This form of psychosis probably the biggest threat facing humanity, and particularly America.
Our high divorce rate and incarceration rate means traumatic separation for millions of toddlers, who are all at risk.
Societies ripped apart by warfare are also at very high risk for producing huge numbers of sociopaths.”

“Will, you are AWESOME !
You have more guts and moral clarity than 99% of your human kin.
You also have a great dad !
"And a child shall lead them..."
Courage, Truth, Honor
These are the traits you display
And remember- the people who talk the loudest against gays are actually the ones who struggle the most with their own feelings, and their own gayness.
When my son mentioned this idea to one of his gay-bashing friends, that friend ceased his gay bashing. Revealing, no?”

How is that?
How can this book sell ZERO copies to the public, and yet be called a "best seller"?
It is common practice for publishing houses to ship huge quantities at discount prices to WAREHOUSES where they will be held for 59 days before being returned to the publisher.
This is a publishing scam that has been going on for a long time.”

The cops kill innocent people due to their own recklessness, then use the system to try to cover it up, and then, as punishment, they have to go find a job ?
The system works hard to ake care of its own, but the results are that the system eats itself when they lose the trust of the people.”

If cops treated "civilians" with less hostility, particulary young people, minorities, and the non-conservative in appearance, then cops would have a lot more fans.
I have had experience with good cops and bad cops, and I am convinced that the repsonsibility for the attitudes and behaviors of police officers rests with the departmental leadership.
There are good cops out there. There are towns where almost all the cops are good cops.
And there are very bad people working for very bad departments.
Sociopaths at the top hire likeminded individuals.
Good people do the same.”

The idea of drafting people, or at least recruiting and incentivizing is an excellent idea.
School teachers can identify the good eggs, and if there is coordinated encouragement, we might get to a point where every community is proud of its police force, and teenagers are not brought up to hate and fear them.
What are these kids' friends going to think about cops from now on?
How many of us have had nasty experiences with uniformed bullies?
How many times do we need to be reminded that the police culture is riddled with sociopaths?”
