“Excuse me? What planet do you spend most of your time on, citizen? The churches are indeed free to speak out as they see fit, and have done so throughout our nation's history.

Clearly, "AnotherAngle," you are untroubled by the ravages of actual, empirical facts.

It is truth the taste of which makes you gag, but that's only natural for the demonstrable authoritarian.

“So in other words, you are quite content with the current status quo of legalized corporate predation that masquerades as healthcare in this country, a system that sees circa 45,000 *Americans* including *children* die each year due to lack of access to affordable healthcare, for no other "sin" than being declared "...not profitable enough!" by some insurance company hack so his CEO can have a third BMW G-series roadster in the garage in his second vacation home in The Hamptons, but God forbid We The People actually take care of our own, 'cause that's "socialism" 'cause Limbaugh the Hutt sez so.

Guff. Don't like government running anything? Fine. Turn in your Social Security card, give up MediCare if you're already on it, and never call 9/11 for any reason whatsoever, stop using the municipal water and sewage systems, and stop driving on all those roads that have been provided and maintained at taxpayer expense.

BTW, you studied theology where again? The churches Catholic and Protestant alike are *not* free to say what they like if it contradicts the teachings of Christ, most especially if the church leadership is playing *politics* and trying to twist the Scriptures to suit their agenda.

I was simply pointing out that without government interference, the church could speak out about gay marriage, abortion or anything else they wanted to without fear of repercussion. Please don't put words in my mouth; I hate the way liberalsim tastes.”

“No, according to the Scripture, it is *not* their right to deny aid to the sick, the suffering, the hungry, the homeless:

"Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me."

This is nothing less than legalized racketeering, done with the collusion of elected officials in congress that have taken lobbyist's "campaign contributions" to pass laws enabling Monsanto to do to America's soybean production what the insurance company racketeers have done to our nation's healthcare system.

It is the self-anointed aristocracy of the moneyed corporations and their overwhelmingly GOP servants who have worked long and hard to destroy democracy in favor of a plutocratic oligarchy which pays lip service to "freedom" spewed daily by the likes of such paid hacks as Glenn "The Crybaby" Beck on Fake News.

So-called "Libertarians" are simply Social Darwinists with a sugar coating of the word "Liberty." Libertarianism is simply lasse faire corporatism by another name, and doesn't survive the smell test even if one wears a gas mask.

Government is "Of The People, By The People, and For The People." It is up to We The People to determine its nature and its course. Corporatism as practiced by the GOP and its K Street paymasters is not democracy, no matter how much the intellectually bankrupt likes of such as Glenn "The Crybaby" Beck and his ilk may try to spin it otherwise.

"The great truths are too important to be new." Somerset Maugham, 1874-1965.

Our founding fathers saw the danger in giving corporations control over anything, did not give them any control, and limited their existence. The American Revolution was all about rebellion to British corporations.

The change in these policies began in the in last third of the nineteenth century. Shortly before Lincoln"s death, he warned that "Corporations have been enthroned . . . . An era of corruption in high places will follow and the money power will endeavor to prolong its reign by working on the prejudices of the people . . . until wealth is aggregated in a few hands . . . and the republic is destroyed."
