“I'm the exact opposite (US born - UK and AU resident), and you're right. The switch is almost automatic.”

“Well you were one person... with everyone else to keep you in check. This is a whole nation, on familiar roads that they used to navigate on autopilot just an hour before... Not taking anything away from you. Just an observation.”
“It's not likely that you will ever get any religious person to comment on this type of question. They are well aware that a lot of the bible was written as a guide to appropriate rules for the day and age in which each section was created. As society and the world has evolved over the centuries, fewer and fewer of the 'rules' in the bible have remained relevant. I don't think you'll ever hear a Christian at a BBQ saying "no I won't eat those prawns, it's an abomination!"
They are not allowed to (openly at least) hate blacks or Jews anymore, because society has progressed. So us gays are all they've got left to hate and preach against. It may take another 2 or 3 generations before those few mentions in the bible, apparently about homosexuality, are also considered irrelevant in modern society.”

And the annual marches by Catholics and Protestants in Belfast. And the displays of military might by North Korea. I could go on. Durr”
